You mean they are all going to look the same?
Oh no...I did not think about this went I was bidding.

with the exception of the occasional “oddball” your pansies should be feather-sexable. then behavioral cues and finally vent-sexing as last resort.....this guy was only 3 ish weeks in the pics.....you can already see rusty breast and he showed cockerel behavior/stance from day 1!! his breast was more solid rust color similar to pharaoh as he matured.

Who has links to references on ratios for breeding and fertility?
Trying to figure out if large coops should be grow out, then put the breeders in the 2'x2'? Fewer birds, less room. Messier back patio. It has been really quiet since the 3 roosters left. The single male on the patio is quiet. Seeing foam. Not seeing breeding, so I'm concerned about fertility. He was the largest.

@muddy75 comment about 1 male to 2 females to increase fertility made me think.

At present, have 4 hens with a male in 2 large coops. Need the coops for grow outs. Breeders in the 3.75 sq ft cages? Have to pare down the breeders, which is a good idea. Getting a lot of eggs. Which makes up for the lessened chicken eggs.

@CoturnixComplex runs the small breeding groups.....i’m not absolutely sure about my current male:female quail ratio post-massacre, but all mine in aviary setting and had 90%+ fertility at peak laying. but with smaller breeding groups in smaller spaces, there is much higher risk of overbreeding/aggression

Sweet so the males should still have rusty chests right?

tibetans, tuxedos, red range, rosettas, silvers, pastels, and recessive whites (inc texas am and jumbo white) are main groups not feather-sexable

pharaoh, roux pharaoh, sparkly, pansy, pearl, snowy, falb fee, italian, etc are typically feather-sexable

*feel free to make additions/corrections in my list*
fyi:auctions are active
