➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Quail getting into position to break out of the egg
Raising humidity late in the game isn't as crucial as high humidity all along. You also don't run very high humidity anyway, if I remember correctly.
Two or three days before 'lockdown' isn't going to hurt the hatchibility.
What will make a difference is high humidity while they are actively hatching...high RH, meaning 70% or above.
So I've been around 55-65ish% RH this whole deal unless it drops to high 40s over night. Would increase to the maximum of 70% RH?

No. Don't increase it at all.

I think you need to candle now.

HMMMM. How many do you have? I'm think 75+/- a few out of 120 will be going into lockdown here...
:gigi’ve been hatching batches of 20 or less lately.....so when i say big batch I’ve got 54/60 still cooking! need to candle again soon to determine how many will go to lockdown!
next batch is all homegrown and around 2 dozen? (6 are 2+ days behind main 18)
next hatch (final # TBD) should arrive next week

Thanks! That’s helpful. I didn’t try the fork this time btw so idk if it would have worked better but used the grain shovel and then a regular pointy diggy shovel :lau dont know the true name. The grain one though I think has a pretty short handle but idk.

Definitely probably need a shorter handled tool though.

Although it was a pretty large area
You might also try a steel rake...let me find on. I've found them wayyyyy easier to move pine chips, cedar bark, soil, etc than shovels or pitchforks. But I still use a rounded shovel to dig into the piles? Theyre also great for burn pile management but I don't think you do much burning in the burbs. Idk. Experimentation!

Neverrr. I'm reallyyyyy sad about the extras from jmf being dead. They, I am pretty sure, never developed or weren't fertile OR were murdered by shipping. They were the lavender Manchurian golden layers :duc
Your humidity level scares the crap outta me.

Nicccce. I'm hoping the girls who hatch are all gonna poop celadon eggs for me. Some shells in the incubators are really greenish without any speckling :fl

#4 is really close to hatching!! rolling the egg around like crazy during zip!! trying my best to stay up to see what color!! but dogs already threw a fit to go to bed so i’m sure i’ll have to be heading that way soon!!:gig
