I went back to search the coop more thoroughly and found another egg. Two today, six weeks and one day after the first chick hatched. Since the first chick hatched a day before the rest and is a roo, I'm going to say exactly six weeks from hatch to first egg.

Okay so more numbers

Feb 10th hatched 68/99. Locked down 72.

May 10th hatched 48/99 cots. Locked down 51. Was expected to have low fertility.

June 25th hatched 13/16 cots 8/12 buttons. Locked down 13 cots and 10 buttons.

Set 36 on Thursday the 15th, 2 clear 3 early quitters.

Dont have clear, late or early quitter counts on the other 3 hatches.

Oh my I can't wait to add MORE batches to the app.

Ive been working on another quail project. Blowing out the eggs for projects. On esty there were several pics for inspiration and i saw a lady selling blown chicken eggs at 2$ each- asking 12$ per half dozen up to 120$ for 5 dozen!

And this one, making it into a human calcium supplement

My eggs so far

I have 57 blown out eggs with the 6 added today and about 20 hatched eggs for more projects . Thinkn ima make eggs and french toast for dinner so i can use up the 6 doz quail eggs in the fridge and save all those shells to have enough to really do something next week. Feed any leftovers as a protein boost for the birds.

Im collecting specifically from my Lavander Manchurian roosters pen for next wks set. Ill probly do a hatch each wk from each of the 5 adults' pens until i rotate thru all of them twice and then have the proper number of hens for each of my current color varieties to breed true. Then ill have like 10 hens who wont fit those projects and ill have more color projects to start. I have a customer waiting on red hens. He hasnt seen the pansy type yet or the celadon eggs

I’m making eggplant parm tonight with some fresh eggplants from my garden.

that sounds amazing!!! i can’t wait until next spring for garden planting!! like all things, first time (this year) was good practice run!!!
since it’s friday night, DH went “old school” and made fried chicken wings, shrimp, and fries

Where it says home grown. The first was meat and egg makers. The second were special collection whatever he wanted.
