āž” Quail Hatch Along🄚

I just have a foam incubator. I could possibly get another as a hatcher or DIY something.
DW would kill me though.:rant I would always have a full incubator, which holds 120 quail eggs...:jumpy I would need multiple brooders or a huge one too. I did see a stacked brooder system recently in another BYC thread that I could DIY...
My dream brooder would be a 300 gallon stock tank. Filled with pine pellets. No more stink

Thanks guys. I have a feeling the shipping really messes with them. And from going to 3300ft elevation after being brought into existence at 0 elevation? Might try myshire egg next purchased egg hatch.

@Texas Kiki I will call hatch tomorrow and post stars after I get home from 7 mile hike.

I think it could be a combination of all those things. Elevation can really mess with a lot of stuff so makes sense it could hatching too. Although you haven’t had any issues before now right? I honestly am tempted to think it could just be bad genetics. Especially given they are all having very similar issues.

And wow 7 mile hike!? Impressive. I need to be more active.

I’ve got the Incuview which thankfully holds far less than most comparable foam ones, only 27 chicken and I think like 48 quail, but I bet I could still fill it. :lau

And oooohhh that stacked brooder idea sounds cool.

Just checked apparently 49. Close enough lol

I have a large trough 200 gallon I think... could be more. Its a bit tall though for a brooder, making most of the volume useless. Right now I am using my DIY brooder that is 4'x2'x1.5' (its actually a bit shorter I think. Like 15 inches). I would like a 8'x2'x15" with a removable divider in the middle and heat caves on each end. I don't mind shavings as bedding, but I haven't tried pellets.

That sounds amazing

If i were u id start looking into a diy coolerbator  tell ur beautiful young wife she can slap me thru the phone :gig shes gonna hate me

I say make hay while the suns shinning. You have customers, give em what they want and teach that adorable tyke how finaces for a Farm work. Id bet you could easily make them pay for themselves in Full.

I have three main brooders. 2 40 gallon "breeder" aquariums(large footprint like 36"x18"?) and a 4 ft x 2 ft box. That allows me to hatch keep them inside awhile and throw em out soon. By the time theyve graduated a wk in the tanks on the backporch theyre good to go into the yard.

If only we lived on a farm instead of a suburban plot... tge quark are nice though because I am realizing we'r could keep A LOT in a relatively small space. The chickens and turkeys take up a lot of space, and the ducks... well they have a 1500 gallon pond. 4 8' long cages could be 100 quail. I have 1 cage and hole to build another very soon, so we are headed in the right direction. It just stinks that winter forces us to move the quail into the shed or garage in a few months. I will not have room indoors for 4 cages.
