You could hand turn the first few days and then toss the duds... go for it.I'm soooooo tempted myself. My incubator only fits 48, though, so I hope I'm safe. I just sold my jumbo flock, so I have room, right?

But I don't want @muddy75 to lose out!![]()

I think number is fir the entire stack of 6 cages. At 3'x2' each (thats what I think it says) I would not put more than 12 per cage depending on male/female ratio. Their number is more like 20-30 per cage, which would be really tight. And that's coming from somebody who pushes the limits in most BYCers opinions.Okay obviously I won’t be buying it because it’s way too expensive and also I’m never gonna have that many quail (although I wish I could cause these cages look awesome) but is it just me or this recommended capacity insane!?
I guess that’s why they call them battery cages though? But still. Seems insane and cruel.
I was thinking they could hold like 6 max, 4 might be more comfortable, and their rate is like 25-30!?![]()

but I guess the food and water is outside so it gives a little more room? But still.
but it seems to be working so far and they have a big run plus I try to let them free range when I can. It was only 7 but then I added 5 more chicks in April. So it was 12 at one point but I just lost an adult about a month ago and now it’s down to 11. Theoretically it should be too tight but they have tons of roost space cause they tend to use the rafters a lot in addition to their real roosts and they’re outside all day. They also have some perches and roosts I added outside which helps. They use those a lot, especially the little ones. And also they only moved into the new coop last year and had a much smaller one for 3 years so this thing is like a mansion to them even with the added chicks

I have succeeded in resisting the auction.![]()
Edit: Oooh, and someone snipes it at the last minute!
60 rare would be $60 full price so 32 is really good deal! luckily someone swooped in and bid 34 at last second so i’m got lucky this time!Good luck. That's higher than I would go. Who knows though. Somebody might be willing to go just a bit higher. Otherwise, enjoy the rare colors.
