➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

I have no idea.

I need to research.

But my partner is an amazon addict so we'll never have a shortage of boxes (for shredding!).

Well i thinks u gotta add the info to the quail crafts thread for those of us who might wanna do this for our quailies. Nabiki has been very sweet letting me attach things not entirly made by quail by making me an honorary quailie :gig

So probably not good then? Even if I put very few in it?

And thanks, I did and I think this is the same one? And it’s like double?

Yeah, it’s definitely high but I feel like if I were to build it it’d probably be the same price or more?? Like I’m sure the metal roof panels are expensive haha

Ah yes i see double the price. I think its a good deal but i dont want battery cages. Im bothered enough bu the wire floors but i Need the wire floors. I cannot devote the time to cleaning 10 cages every wk. I already have to do abunch more than i want.

Yalllll I think one of my golden girls is trying to hide her eggs under wood chips now...

:lau u think shes gonna tryn set? They really thrive in those naturalistic aviaries :loves

Ah okay yeah that makes sense. I guess I just kinda thought them being stacked would be convenient? But it doesn’t seem like very much space. Idk. I kinda feel like I’d want a bigger area or an on the ground thing or something.

Although that said, genuine question here, not trying to be contrary or anything, if, theoretically these cages were the same square footage as another cage like the bunny ones or a dog crate or whatever (not saying they are, I really don’t know), how is it different? Is it because they are more narrow rather than square and they can’t move around as much? Or is there a different reason? Do they get less sunlight in them??

Genuinely asking cause it seems like if they only had 2-3 in them they wouldn’t be much different than some other set ups? Or is there some glaringly obvious problem I am missing??

Besides the fact that they’re cages and wire, etc. cause I do think I’ll probably go with something on the ground but I just genuinely do not understand/am trying to figure out how they differ from other cages. If stocked far less of course.

Again this isn’t me trying to be contrary or anything, just genuinely trying to learn/figure out the best set up.

I don't think so. I've found 2 like 3 days apart in different spots

Your right not much different foot by foot, just my personal preference. I have read that theyre less stressed by enclosures with lower roofs too so thats a plus. Yes it is convenient and no i dont know of any other reason not to like them except the sloped floor it just isnt pleasing to my eyes. It is a known battery cage. All that said if they were Free on my CL? You better bet id be shot outa here in a heartbeat to go grab em as fast as i could. Not because i like em but because i need more capacity.

Your right about the cost effectiveness of the other one too its about what and what especially after your builders time is alloted for. Thats one reason i dont buy new things though and i look for peoples old things or free building materials.

Thanks! This makes a lot of sense and is very helpful. I keep forgetting about the slopes floors bit :lau and yeah, when I saw that brand and the price I was like dang that seems like a good deal since I know they’re a pretty well known brand and expensive and it seemed pretty cheap. But that said, even though it might be “cheap” for those cages since they sell for way more, it’s definitely not cheap to me and also way more than I want to spend lol besides being 2 hours away. So I think they’re out. But I guess I also mostly wanted to confirm or deny if it was actually a good price or not. But they’re definitely also ugly. That’s true too haha I think I might build some out of wood but idk.

And yeah, it’s definitely a lot of time and effort to make something. That’s part of why I thought the second one was good. No way I could ever make anything near that nice or sturdy. So it’d almost be worth it to me and I could probably get them to lower it some. But I’m not sure how far away that one is yet or how I’d get it home.

What I should have done was act on those two cages/hutches you guys told me to act on a while ago. But I wasn’t sure how I’d get them home so didn’t. But that probably would have been ideal. Those were really cheap.

But oh well, I’ll keep looking I guess haha

I haven’t really been hunting CL or FB too much but I’m gonna start.
