Today must be one of those days where everyone has “other stuff” going on ie housework etc cuz it’s been quiet here!!!! Offed 15 quail today because couldn’t go hunting due to weather forecast.....hopefully rain stops and we get to go tomorrow!
not necessarily....that temp was relative for texas based on the age of @Texas Kiki youngest birds and the fact that it doesn’t typically go that low there......my heat was for the turkeys that are not completely feathered yet.......fully feathered adults can tolerate much lower temps.....i will update how mine quail tolerate the combination of low forties/high thirties and rain this weekend. So after reading all the temp posts, should I conclude that under 50F quails need heating? Our temperatures drop to under 50F (10C) at night and I just put the cage hats.. the quails are still ok, laying eggs and no extra light.
Not sure about the critters yet, but I’m freezing my toushie off this morning....DH said there’s 2 fat turkeys near him that haven’t come off the roost yet! Time to get the rest of the winter gear out of storage!!not necessarily....that temp was relative for texas based on the age of @Texas Kiki youngest birds and the fact that it doesn’t typically go that low there......my heat was for the turkeys that are not completely feathered yet.......fully feathered adults can tolerate much lower temps.....i will update how mine quail tolerate the combination of low forties/high thirties and rain this weekend.
