➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

I think I'm going to actually have to buy one of those things that Elk mentioned to measure how much electricity something uses.
They really can be enlightening such as teaching just how much it costs for those little lights on various items that are on to show that they have power to them.

I used mine specifically to learn how much it costs to run my 40 year old refrigerator vs the advertised cost for a new refrigerator. I also learned it costs me $5 a month to run the fan in my greenhouse and $5 a month to run the fluorescent light over my plants in the living room. I should measure that again since it has a new ballast and supposedly LED bulbs.

It will not work on 220V or I would have measured my hot water heater and my well pump.

They were in the same cage right?
I bet you don't hear a peep out of the single male.

I swear my boys don't talk.

The couple that I just butchered the other day were constantly complaining but as soon as I got that cage to only one male I haven't heard one sound.
I have my two pens right next to each other. Until I put the young birds out, I never heard a peep out of my silver boy from my oldest bird pen. I never heard a peep out of red rooster when he was in the hutch with the middle group of birds.

About a month ago I put all of the middle batch of birds in with my older birds, two of which got along fine, four that didn't. The four that didn't got put in with the younger birds when I put them out into the new pen. Three of those got along with the young birds, the one that didn't became Christmas dinner.

Then the crowing began. It started with loudmouth, which set off silver boy, and red rooster. Eventually another silver tux started up too. Red rooster is gone, I'm kind of thinking that silver boy is next because he hasn't given me any fertile eggs. I think I'm going to replace him with the pretty silver tux from the SSC batch.

I've separated one of the older hens out to see if I still get eggs tonight. If I do, the one I've separated out is going to go. Rinse, repeat, until I'm left the hens that are laying.

Can you find a link to one of these things so I can see exactly what to look for?

You want one with the digital screen. You can enter what your electric rate is and then if stepped through to the proper view it will show how much it costs to run whatever you have plugged in.

Kill A Watt
What is this!?

It's pecking at my tree.
It's black and white with red on its head.
It's dumb.
I want to catch it.

My silly phone won't zoom in close enough.:barnie
