➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

:hugs yes i’ve had that happen.....unfortunately when they are young, they can fly like crazy!! mine flew to roof and down....was gone without a trace before we could run to the front yard! same with Big Boy (male ringneck)
I've had Bobs get out, fly to the roof & up in trees, but they always return to their pen within a few hours. The only Cots that have gotten out just kinda freeze where they land & I catch them easily.

i’ve had that situation many times too....Gimpy (while not the prettiest nor biggest of my male pheasants) was definitely the smartest.....he stayed close even though the first escape was 8 days and the 2nd was a while too.....i had a chukar return 24 hours after raccoon attack, and i’ve had coturnix hang around until caught (houdini had multiple escapes and retrievals) DH even found one “pool survivor” sitting in the filter waiting to be returned to the pen! BUT there are always a few escapees that are too youn or too dumb to be retrieved :hiti lost about 3 dozen total to predators, a few that either flew too far or drowned in the pool, and pheasants that escaped to never be seen again......

I need quail egg scissors so badly!!!

Thanks! We decided to make it bigger than originally planned. :lau

Who is building it?

My dad and I. Made it too big to be a one person job :lau

I am participating/doing a lot though. :D

Hooray! Get ‘er done, girl! :thumbsup:thumbsup:thumbsup

Thanks! I must admit my dad is helping me but mostly just with the cutting and lifting and other stuff I can’t do myself but I’ve done a lot of the putting it together/nailing and holding everything in place and stuff.

We decided to just build one after considering all our options (buying one on Craigslist, fixing the doghouse, etc.) and deciding building was easier and faster and we could make it way nicer than any of those options.

We did however decide to expand it once we started building. :lau
