If she is hurt...hospital jail.@BantyChooks and @Kiki - down 2 male quail, the QB#9 from Kiki. The end of the Big Daddy line. Another female was molested. Strike two and done. Solves one of my problems. I think I caught it in time. The last white girl was bloodied, but still had skin. Both males were small at 10 weeks. I was on the verge of culling them due to size, so this sealed the deal.
Should I separate her? The last one wasn't this bad and she died after 2 weeks. I'm hopeful, but realize there is a chance that she should be culled. Not having fun with the quail today.
In short, I've got to rework my attempt at a breeding program.
On a different note, I may need eggs this fall for new blood.
This was my first time ever with a holes.Soooo, do you think it works to cull the aggressive ones to breed for a calm temperament? If I don't end up getting quail, the aggression problems y'll have had will be a big part of the reason.
I got my first set of eggs off eBay and the seller was actually in Virginia......the rest of mine have come from purely poultry.....I could have been persuaded to smuggle u some eggs but mine have not started laying again yet since the tragedy and move outside......I'll have to get some of my own. Yes, definitely separate injured quail.@BantyChooks and @Kiki - down 2 male quail, the QB#9 from Kiki. The end of the Big Daddy line. Another female was molested. Strike two and done. You're like some sort of angel of mercy! If she is hurt...hospital jail.
I am afraid the other girls will just end up helping her.
I'd just help her and get it over with though.
I can't look at the hurt ones...it hurts me too bad.
Everyone calm down here, thank god.
I ended up only having two dickhead males that had to go immediately.
I said the same thing... I'm hatching quail right nowSoooo, do you think it works to cull the aggressive ones to breed for a calm temperament? If I don't end up getting quail, the aggression problems y'll have had will be a big part of the reason.
