Here is one of the two California Quails with the weird wings for those of you that were interested in them. They also have the odd white tail feather.

Animal control peeps (last I heard) have to vaccinate for rabies, in case. On the plus side, I believe rabies shots do confer immunity for a significant period of time. My eldest daughter had to get them many years ago over a cat bite, that and immune globulin for immediate effect. A cat she had been strictly forbidden to approach...
