I may never get over the charming cluelessness of quail.

I watched one quail look directly at another quail burrowed in the bedding, then step on its head. while passing by. Probably served it right, because that one was happily throwing sand and shavings on top of yet another one trying to rest.

I totally agree! They’re such silly dingbats but so much fun to watch I love when they popcorn pop up and down hehe

These are Italian, right? I was only expecting brown from the XL eggs I bought. My original breeder had mostly brown and some Italian, now I wonder if these are from him originally too

Those do look like Italian!

A little too much patterning and red for typical Grau fee…..same with Rosetta…..chicks are more solid

Yeah probably right! I had a couple messy rosettas that looked sort of like this, but my eye isn’t as well trained as yours!

I set 17 button eggs yesterday. The roommate wants to take buttons with her when she moves next month.

Now I have to hope all my new colors aren't boys! I had Italians at one point, but they were all roos. Think I have 7 falb fees this hatch.. really need a couple hens. I only have two and both are over a year old now.
