➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Oh! I did notice this!
I candle a lot.

I usually see drawdown and then within about 24 hours I see the internal pip and then about 24 hours later I see the external pip.

I think that timeline is about right.
Haven't hatched in a while so I may be remembering wrong.

I don't know how to link my YouTube homepage but if you can figure out how to get to my homepage from my videos above I should have more videos that are viewable by the public.

I'm feeling less than confident about my first hatch!
Is it normal to have so many quit early on? I opened 9 of my 20 that weren't developed and there were tiny embryos. :(
Is it my cheapo incubator?

Unfortunately I can't really post candling pictures as the best way to candle I've found is with my phone flashlight! Lol!

Did you trust your incubator's settings? They lie. Always keep a calibrated thermometer (or three) inside your incubator. A salt tested hygrometer is a good idea too.

If they were shipped eggs, I would say 9 out of 20 quiting early is not out of the realm of possibility. Also, did you thoroughly clean and disinfect the bator before setting the eggs?

In general, 1/3 will quit early, 1/3 half way and 1/3 will quit late or after pipping. This ratio is usually not seen if only hatching a few eggs. There are alot of factors involved in the artifical incubation process which will determine a good hatch or a not so good hatch. Temperature, humidity, sanitation, genetics, handling of the eggs all play an equal and important factor in the process.

The 'cheap incubators' usually don't produce a good results when hatching eggs.
