First chick of the new year!

I’ve been very fortunate to have all my celadon chicks lay blue eggs so far... About to start collect some eggs to hatch for the very first time! Wish me luck!

Late hatcher has splayed hips. Hobble time! Eensy little cut up bandaid strips wrapped around each leg first, then a long strip to wrap around both. Poor little thing is still pouting about it, but is scampering around now with a lot of wing waving to keep balance.

My 5 jumbos are almost 3 weeks old. So far no obvious males as the feathers start coming in. But they could still change.

What are the chances I ended up with all hens??? Lol

Unlikely, but possible. I took 6 eggs from someone to hatch, and of the 5 that hatched, all were boys.

Unlikely, but possible. I took 6 eggs from someone to hatch, and of the 5 that hatched, all were boys.

One of my birds only makes boys. Another one makes mostly girls.

After more than a year though, I've given up trying to guess and just decided all extra boys are bonus cat food. (I'm also at max capacity, so a little bummed right now. Hatching is so much fun.)

This is my first batch of quail ever so I have no answer for you. XD
