šŒššš«šœš” 2š¤22 ~ Flo's Hatch-A-Long ~

Oh, I totally believe you. Thatā€™s why I introā€™d with how my imagination just went into overdriveā€¦.

So hereā€™s a tour of what I see. I copied your picture. Then I drew lines ā€œjust belowā€ each horizontal line & ā€œjust to the rightā€ of both vertical lines. The most prominent vertical line is how it passes just behind the vertical tail fin of the C-130!

Like I said initially, I am still having a seriously hard time UN-seeing the ā€œfake linesā€ in your pictureā€¦.. strange huh?

It's like somebody took bright blue finger paint on their finger and drew a grid on your photo. Only they squiggled the top right line a bit.
Oh wow! I can see it now! Thatā€™s so cool!

LOL. My sister works at a Creperie. Maybe I'll call the hen "Crepes".

I'll make a poll after I get a few more name suggestions!
Ooh, I do like the names Pancake and Crepe. Otherwise, you could go with Meringue.

Anyway, I hope this hatch goes well! Sheā€™s adorable, and I canā€™t wait to see what her babies look like!

And now we return you to the hatching topicā€¦..

Any update pancaking pics? ā€œCandling picsā€?
I candled some of them today, and from what I can tell, the majority of the eggs appear to be infertile and not developing. :(
I really hope Iā€™m wrong.

The picture below is showing which eggs I THINK are infertile/not developing and fertile/developing. Marked in green and red. I did not get a chance to candle the eggs in the top left, nor did I have a chance to take pictures. Hopefully I am able to do so tomorrow.

She got out of the nest today for about 10 minutes. She took a HUGE poop again, and very very smelly. Somewhat green; could this be a health issue?

Here she is drinking some water:

Doing good!

ETA: I don't know why the photos are not cooperating by staying in the spoiler. One of the photos is for some reason attached below.

How many days along are you now (today)? Be realistic in your estimate here:
Potential Minimum days under her=
Potential Maximum days under her=

From what I have read & seen some eggs can be delayed as much as 3-5 days before you ā€œstart to see a hintā€ compared to other eggs placed under the hen on same day.

Theyā€™ve been under her for about 4.5 days. Iā€™m hoping to see some more development when I candle tomorrow and/or in the following week.

I was wrong :).

I apologize- the photo quality is terrible for some reason, so you probably canā€™t tell if the eggs do or donā€™t have development from the photos. I believe all but 1 or 2 were showing signs of development (veins, blood vessels, etc).

I also could not find my flashlight so I had to use whatever I had on handā€¦

I will hopefully take better pictures tonight, with a brighter flashlight.

ETA: After reviewing the photos, it looks to me like eggs #3 and #7 are the only possible infertile/non-developing eggs.

When she got up off the eggs, I saw her bottom was very wet and dirtyā€¦ I felt the eggs, and they were a little wetā€¦

There is no water inside the crate.. my question is: Is this natures way of ā€œhumidifyingā€ the eggs? It seemed as if the hen was sweaty..?

At first, I thought one of the eggs brokeā€¦ the eggs are all fine.

Then maybe I thought she poopedā€¦ no poop in the crate.

I cleaned out the wet hay and gave her new hay. Does anyone know what was going on?

Today, one of the Delaware hens layed a weird egg. Just wondering if itā€™s anything to worry about? It just seemed strange to me..
