There is no way to be sure of the sex at this stage of life. It's way too early. Just thought I'd point out the unusual red wattle development at just 8 days old.

I can't see it but I believe you if you say so.

Not a big deal, it's just I would love another OEGB. The chipmunk chicks are just the cutest.

Yes, I have a brooder.. I don't think Flo will kill it...

It is cute! I see, so it's an OEGB and that's why you want it! I had some chipmunks but they were EEs if I remember correctly.

We picked up the Chipmunk chick this afternoon! We offered them money, but they kindly refused, which was very nice of them.

I put the chick (which we are thinking and hoping is a pullet) into the brooder until sunset.

Then we snuck her under Flo, and Flo seemed a little hesitant at first, but now it seems as though she’s accepting her, despite the 1+week age gap between the new Chipmunk and the other chicks.

… Amazing news! Chippy the Chipmunk chick has been successfully accepted to the “flock”! She’s doing great! Still trying to learn Flo’s calls, but she’s active, eating, and drinking !

I apologize for not posting much.. it’s been a bit busy around here. Was ice skating the other day, fell on my hands and sprained one of my wrists. The x-ray results came back negative for a fracture, thank the Lord, so the doctor said it’s a sprain. Will be wearing a brace for a little over a week…


The chicks are doing great!! All 4 are alive and well! Chippy is 100% a female (was sexed at birth [wing sexed]).., and one of the other ones looks liked a female.. but I see 2 possible cockerels. I know it’s way too early on to sex, but it’s fun to take some guesses.
