16-mo old BO hen internal layer? update: Paris necropsy pics (graphic)

I own my own company and I DID take Dottie to work with me.

I thought about putting the cage back in the coop while I was gone so she would hear the others, but left her in the bathroom so she would be warm.

She hasn't had the energy to preen, and with the molt, she is just covered with new feathers still in the covering (whatever it's called), so I sat and gently preened her to remove the covering and expose the new feathers. She fell asleep when I did that. It was messy though.

I took them all to school when they were baby chicks. But, this would be quite different. It would be hard to stress her like that, so I left her home. She didn't eat though. Not good.

Hmmm...sounds like a real sick girl..
fingers crossed.

contact this person..she's known as "crazychick" ...Laura is her name and she can instruct you with draining the fluid..she is an expert on this topic.
here's her email:

[email protected]

title it "hen emergency"..
you can also contact her at The Poultry Site in the health discussions..either by post or pm..
you can tell her I sent you..give her as much detailed symptoms you can.

also..I think that it's 1/2 cc of Pen-G..but I'd suggest going with Tylan 50..

yes, she is still fluid filled. I gave her Pen G last night per Jody and Cyn. Since that is what I have, that is what I will give her tonight. I have to do a bunch of phone calling and paperwork for work before I can work on Paris.

Yes, I did check for impaction. Her vent was pretty empty. I got some more of that pale yellow fluid as well as some more normal poop, but all of it was runny. There wasn't any broken shell or impacted egg. Unless I am missing something....

The closest pic to what I saw was the lymphoid leukosis dropping, but Paris' was much runnier. She hasn't had any droppings since yesterday. She has taken a limited amount of electrolytes and a tiny bit of scratch. She wouldn't eat scrambled egg or yogurt today.

I gave her a second dose of Pen G tonight. She also had a large watery yellow poop with some tiny bits of green (the normal kind). I am guessing the yellow is either urates, or signs of e. coli or just yolk. At this point, I am not sure what I am fighting, but the battle rages....

Sammi, I will try to contact Laura, but it is going to have to be tomorrow. I am getting sick myself, so need to get sleep. I can just see us...it will be Chicken Fever and Swine Flu. What a pair.
