Hi, all. We bought 3 Red Stars that were sold as five months old on July 17th. One of them started laying about a month later, but the other two are still not doing a thing. Getting red as can be in the comb/wattles, but no eggs. They're in a roomy coop/run, don't seem stressed, and eat like anything. The one layer started squatting a few days before she started laying, but the other two still run when you go to pick them up. Next week will be 8 months old on these hens.
Could the breeder have been mistaken on the age, or do Red Stars wait until eight months to lay?
Thanks!
Richard
