Hey! I purchased three silkie hens a year ago, I was under the impression they where all hens, but recently I have become curious as to the sex of one of them, she/he has an almost entirely different body shape to the other two, doesn’t brood as the other two do, and is vastly more vocal. I know for certain the other two lay, but I’ve yet to confirm that Dolly, the silkie in question, does lay. I realise that British silkies and American silkies appear to be different in appearance but I’m hoping someone may have an answer for me! I’ll attach photos of Dolly (white silkie) alone, and some with all the fluffy butts together! Thank you!

if they are a year old and no crows then you might just have a hen that looks like a roo.
My Pippin is very rooster-looking but is still a girl (lays eggs and goes broody regularly)
Thank you I wasn’t expecting such quick replies! She/he? Does crow but I also read that silkie hens can take on the characteristics of a rooster when one is not present, such as crowing, but from what I’ve observed, I’ve never seen Dolly brood, or nest ready for laying, he/she is always out on their own when the other two are brooding, which is regularly, Dolly never sits in the coop during the day, always out exploring! P.s Pippin is such a cute name!!
