**2009 Quilt Block Swap for April**

I have a question for you guys.....I have a little trouble sewing a straight line. Do you mark on your machine with something to guide the material, and what do you use? Currently I have a "quilter's quarter" stick that I use to measure my 1/4 inch seam allowance, and use a disapearing ink marker then sew along that line, but it still comes out kinda sloppy.

All the nice blocks I'm receiving are sewn nice and straight. Am I missing something? It's been like 15+ years for me since I've sewn blocks and I think I may have forgotten a few basics. Any help would be appreciated!

I got a very nice surprise today from Verthandi!!! She sent me a replacement block for the one I did not receive last month and it is gorgeous!!! How very sweet and thoughtful!!!! Thank you so very, very much!!! I love it!!!!!

Unfortunatley I cannot take a picture of it thanks to my dachshund puppy becasue she chewed my memory stick and my computer/camera cable into a thousand pieces today!!!!! I could kill her..well not really but I am fuming about it......anyway, thank you so much for the block Verthandi, very sweet of you and I really appreciate it and when I replace my camera parts after payday I will post a picture!!

I am very impressed with all of the blocks that have been shown on here so far! O.K. here is my first one. It is not real fancy but since I am brand new to quilting, I am proud of it. I hope dragracer likes it!

17roses, that's a pretty block! I love your fabric choices!

Here's round two with the card basket... it's better, but still not quite where I'd like it to be. Gumpsgirl, if you like it, it is yours!

Ignore the loose threads laying on it... I didn't notice them until after I took the picture.

Lol... well, I really like the fabric, so I do want to take it apart and try again. I think I can get it close if I do that. Squaring up each 4.5" square section of the block before putting them together helped a lot (thanks so much, Jody... it seems like such an obvious thing, but I never thought about that at all.) After redoing it so many times, I'm not sure if I could part with it!

I just want to thank you all... this swap has been so wonderful! I am learning stuff and I am really grateful for that. I taught myself to do this and I know I still have a lot to learn, but I feel like I am improving all the time with your help!
