I've never got the hang of the feather sexing thing. I can never remember which way it is.

Then there is the thing about fast feathering and slow feathering, and I'm not sure if NN are fast or slow or maybe some of both.

I get confused over feather sexing as well, I understand it but it doesnt work on all breeds, and who can remember which it does and doesnt!

fast feathering is a sexlink thing--crossing breeds that make pullets feather at a different rate from cockerels. I really does not work for a breed, which is why it is hard to get, because it is impossible unless you do the correct cross of breeds.

How do we know which breeds we can actually feather sex, this is what I never quite understood.

There is a sexlink thread that lists some of them. I will paste in the information but you should go to the thread--It is amazing!

The table below contains some of the birds that can be crossed to produce chicks that can be feather sexed.

Any of the males in the table, can be crossed with any of the females in the table to produce offspring that can be feather sexed. If you purchased your birds from a hatchery, check with the hatchery to see if the hatchery feather sexed the birds you purchased. If your stock was feather sexed, then the chickens can not be used for feather sexing crosses.
