Still high 80s here, too hot, in my opinion.

I'll be happy to change with you! Never have been able to acclimate to the weather here. The hotter the better

ETA: Nevermind I found it :sick  Yes, I sniffed it, it was obvious. It was one of the Marans eggs, yet not the cracked one. I opened it up (in a ziploc baggie) and it was scrambled inside, no development whatsoever.  Blech.

Ooh good idea! I never thought of using a ziplock bag for suspect eggs! I'm always afraid one is going to explode all over me, so I take them outside and chunk them in a bucket

YAY!! got my cheap rubber buckets from jeffers and my 4 cheap "submersible anti-explosion fish tank heaters" off ebay in the mail today! waiting for the big heated waterer for the serama yet and we are winter ready!! whoot whoot!!! anything to make life easier!!! sick of breaking ice out! 2 heaters for $21.98 free shipping! if I figured out how much hassle that saved on freeze days..... ahhhhhh priceless!!!
I'm happy you have a plan. I hope it works! This is my first winter with chickens and I think my plan will work. I'm heating the line of nipple waterers with heat tape and I'll use an aquarium heater if needed. I still need to improve the bracing for the pipe. Not ready yet, so the winter better hold off for a couple months.

Thank you Sally. Still in shock a bit and watching the 3rd pip now :) Hope I did it right this time with your help.........good air sacs and the right heat for the one with still air and forced air. Chickens are good therapy!
hugs.gif
very good therapy, now hands off and keep reading on the process of hatching! lol
bun.gif
and NOT touching! this explains A LOT of what is going on in there! and it takes time, A LOT OF TIME!!! and hatch time is so testing a person!!! I get so antsy, and I have to zip my mouth on BYC because I can tell when people intervene, I see these posts and they say, I didnt touch it, I found it this way,
barnie.gif
, its so obvious and so unfortunate for the chicks! They worry when they see the pip they think after a few hours, OMG OMG OMG its not doing anything... then they start to pick, just a little they think, then a bit more and then.... oh man!!!! sometimes it DOES take a day after it pips!! see the video I posted in the article I am going to post here: so READ READ READ!!

Hubs wanted to try them, I just cant see them working for below freezing I just cant, so I cant afford to try something like that, I love the idea but like I said I just cant do it

Eep. Something smells a bit off in the 'bator tonight. How do I identify which one it is?? I picked the cracked one up and sniffed it and it smells fine... Which one could it be!

Here is a story for you all.... not chicken related, but chatty anyways....

I breed English Springer Spaniels on occasion for those of you that don't now, my true loves....

anyways.....
I wanted to get a female poodle... yea I said poodle, standard, so we could have a few springerdoodle pups, they are hypoallergenic and if you breed a chocolate to a springer they are gorgeous to boot!

anyways, I am having issues TALKING the family into an poodle, most hate poodles I find..... and I DID hate them until I started looking at springerdoodles.....

so I used a few images to get the kids on MY SIDE.....

Lucas was first.... I said how about a LION.....

or a bear

and finally he saw a MINECRAFT poodle muwahhahhhahaaa SOLD one down another kid to go!

HARMONYANN

HOW about a pink one? "OK, but Mom you said I couldnt dye my silkies when I had them?" ummmm DOH, well ummm well, um Dogs are different maybe? we will see later on..... <insert foot in mouth> "MOM, I Like the Bear Poodles"

TWO DAYS later I get a text from her

MOM, changed my mind....
"we are getting the pink one and I am getting my hair dyed, Aunt Angie says she can do it just like the first picture.....PINK on the bottom, I told her you already knew about it, Luv U"

You know what..? As old as I am, I am actually getting used to seeing the color in kids hair. There are some that are actually done quite tastefully. Like the last photo..not bad. What they don't realize, is when it comes time to change it..not so easy..they usually have to cut it off. So, if she has long hair, it will be like that for a while, unless she dies it black black!! lol...
