Just some quick questions, I set them yesterday morning, so today I can say they're on day 1 incubation? Also for my 1588 do I take the vent plug out at day 10? and should I worry about the height change on day 18 from them going from the auto turner to the floor of the bator?

Yes, today is day one for you. I see another post just popped up, they are probably answering you. I don't use the plugs in the beginning. Some say use one plug now. It just doesn't seem to make a difference, so no plugs for me.
I am also going to be setting my eggs that are in a turner to the floor. That works out just fine.

Saris, on the placing the eggs on the floor, I have decided to set them on the floor on day 17. Thinking it may help them get settled more in that position..just my thought.

I will turn them once that day is all.

We were told she is an Americauna, but someone recently on one of the forums said she's an EE. I have no idea what a Cochin is. Here's a pic.The hen is the blue or gray one, whichever you'd prefer to call her coloring. I call her blue and she (Goldie) is on the far right. Frizzle, our roo, is in the middle behind the feeder. We bought him from a local feed store. If you can tell 100% about both, I'd love to know the correct breed too:) The old man we bought Goldie from is who we also bought our ducks from. He thought the ducks were mallards. I learned on the duck forum they are WH., so as with the ducks, he may have made a mistake on Goldie's breedtoo. Thanks:) .
Do you think you could get a Better picture of her? And maybe the rooster too
Sorry this has taken me so long to get back

you. Here's a new pic of Goldie. Frizzle wouldn't sit still long enough for me to get a clear photo, but he does have feathers growing back down on his legs. He's such a big mess right now from his molt. I just started putting feather fixer in their feed in hopes it will help somewhat. He was so full and fluffy and beautiful in the Spring when we bought him.

This hatch chart should be helpful and you should take the plug out and lose it..Let the cat play with or something.

The day you set the eggs is always day one--there is no such thing as a day 0.....O is a place holder used in math and does not happen in the real world--You can have none of something but if you have any of something, you cannot have 0.
