24 THINGS HEADED FOR EXTINCTION IN AMERICA

It has certainly caught on in rural areas such as ours where nothing else but dial-up is available, with no DSL in sight.

Guess I better buy a farm, raise wild horses and bees then, but I'll still be selective about my swimming hole

wow, that is an interesting list. I am sad to read it!
I mean honey bees are sooo important , we really can't live without them. Our crops will not flower and produce fruit or veggies.

I loved my local swimming hole. It has been there forever and the susquahana indians used it. You could find arrow heads and really neat stuff down by the water.

We support our local drive in movie theather. I mean seven people f0r $12 bucks. Can not beat that!!!!!!

And the FARM...............

I don't think "traditional" families are going anywhere.

What the heck was that supposed to mean anyway? Families are going extinct? Freedom is going extinct?

We have no shortage of bees here- and I'm so glad for that. However- we have plenty of giant cicada killers. Those things are insane! Eeeeew!

Some counties in Michigan (Washtenaw, Wayne, Lenawee) don't allow nurseries to sell ash trees and you are not allowed to put them in your yard. Our county also has a local firewood law. We have a lot of campgrounds and canoe liveries near us and you can either buy wood there, forage in a local state forest or buy from private sellers within the county (the 14 yr old boys LOVE this law, they have stands at roadside in summer--so much for lemonade!) BTW, the USDA would probably never allow lemonade stands now.

I'm conflicted about the mustangs, because horses have not lived in North America since the Ice Age and the ecosystem changed over time. If I were to release a herd of Asian elephants in California on the grounds that mastodons once lived there and they are a symbol of the prehistoric era, I would be called crazy.

I will miss the yellow pages. I find it much easier to simply look up the local pizzeria's number rather than rely on the computer. What if we're out of power and that's why I need pizza?

I also miss my "dumb" phone. I don't need to take pictures and I dread the day my daughter becomes a teenager, wants a cell phone and takes inappropriate pics of herself ...

And in 10 yrs when she's a teenager, there will probably be a worse trend out by then.

I will clutch onto my VCR, kicking and screaming. I love old cheesy sword-and-sorcery movies and most of these are so bad that they will never be on DVD.

They tell themselves it's not a real disaster, and get upset at the restrictions put in place to stop it from happening because it somehow interferes with their 'freedom'.
