Hi!
I’m new to this site and new to keeping chickens...
We have two Orpington’s, five standard Cochins and a ‘bonus’ ICB... all between 6 and 8 weeks old.

Our oldest Cochin is definitely pullet as far as I can tell, no wattle or comb to speak of... so it’s making me worry that my other FOUR are ALL Roos one’s comb is a little smaller/paler than the others, and the picture makes them all look a little redder than they are in person (they were corralled and under the light while we were cleaning out their bigger brooder).

Does anyone have any more insight? I’m too new to really be able to tell with the feathers, and their legs are way too feathery to go off leg size!

Thank you for any advice!

Holly

You said the picture makes them look redder than they are, is there any way you could get individual pictures in natural light? Is that possible?

Thank you for responding!!
It’s dark here now but I can definitely try... I did just take these to try and get a picture of their feathers though, and it kind of shows the colouring better!

I see 3 possible rooster speaking the bright red combs, but depending on there breed its a different story.

Thank you...
I just took these and I can definitely see a difference in the feathers now. I think the blacks are both boys, the splash/blue in the first picture is probably pullet and then I’m unsure/couldn’t get a clear look at the other splash/blue.

I see a couple that I'm sorta on the fence about, I can't quite decide either way? But the two black ones do look like cockerels. Maybe someone else will pop on here who has a more definite opinion on the others. They're so cute, I hope they're not all boys :fl

It’s definitely tough... the blacks do definitely look cockerel though!
Thank you, I know... I’m so sad, we can’t keep Roos where I live and I’ve grown so attached to all of them already!
