I also have a question, I’m keeping the chick no matter what gender it ends up to be, I’m just wondering if there would be a lot of fighting between him and his dad over dominance if she/he does end up being a cockerel. I looked it up and it said that there still might be a little fighting but since the chick is his offspring it won’t be as bad, is that true or a myth?

Yes, it's true. A fight between two cockerels of the same age will be more critical than that of a rooster and his offspring. Although not always true depending on the temperament of your rooster and the cockerel whichever one is willing to challenge. I believe it will all be ok, but have a plan "B" in mind just in case.

Yikes, my barred rock rooster is VERY temperamental you could be going inside the coop to collect eggs while he’s somewhere else strutting his stuff and next thing you know he’s jumping at you attacking you lol. I can barely walk outside without him attacking me, that’s not good news.
