I have a 4 week old silkie I’ve been going above and freaking beyond for to fix its wry neck and for a week or so it was fixed. No sign of wry neck. I had been giving it nutridrench and then when it stopped drooping it’s neck I continued to give it the nutridrench just not as often. Well I had to go on vacation and had my house sitter, not experienced with chicks, give it the nutridrench and we’ll I’ve come home and can see the wry neck coming back. It’s not back fully but it’s there, I can tell. My question is, am I going to need to give this little chick nutridrench forever? Does wry neck get cured? Do I go on or put the poor thing out of its misery? I think I’ve caught it early enough that with more nutridrench like I did before, it’ll go away. I’m willing to put in the time cause I’ve already put so much freaking time in this little chick and it’s showed promising improvement that I feel like it’s life could be normal. Can it???

Please get some photos of the chick.
You have another thread from a couple of weeks ago that mentions a bulging eye?

Wry Neck is a neurological symptom - depending on the cause, vitamin therapy may help.
What dose of Vitamin E did you give?

I would try 400IU Vitamin E along with 1/4 tablet B-Complex. Give a little egg for the uptake of E. Egg has sufficient selenium, so don't give any extra selenium.
Often b vitamins can help with neurological symptoms as well.

What do you feed?
Can she eat/drink on her own?

Not sure what's going on with a bulging eye - if that's corrected or not? Could be your chick has a developmental or genetic issue that is causing the problems. Silkies have a hole in the skull, so sometimes they have neurological issues.

There's no way to know how long therapy can take or whether or not it will be successful. If the chick is suffering, seems to be in pain or quality of life is not there, then it may be time to put her out of her misery. Only you can determine when the time has come.

Video of your chick's actions may also be helpful - upload to youtube and provide a link.

Hi there thank you for responding,

Yes the buldging eye went away thankfully, I think it was maybe some dust got in there because it didn't last long and looks completely normal now.

I was giving it vitamin E and selenium when I first noticed the wry neck at about 2 or 3 days old, which cured it. It came back because I stopped giving it both things. I tried to give it the vitamin E snd selenium but there was no signs of improvement. During this time I needed to help it eat and drink. I started giving it the nutridrench and it finally improved and the wry neck was completely gone. When I came home yesterday and noticed the wry neck was back, I gave it more nutridrench than I told my house sitter to while I was away. It seems to already be getting better, I'm attaching a video. It currrently can eat and drink on its own.

How many times do I give the B complex? Do I smash the 1/4 in water and give it to it in a syringe? It twitches its head and sneezes a lot so it makes me think it is neurological.
Give the B-Complex daily along with the Vitamin E and egg.
You can dissolve the B-Complex in a small amount of water and syringe it into her if you wish.

Sneezing is a respiratory symptom. Check her ears for infection and make sure her nostrils are not getting clogged with feed.
She may need the fluff trimmed around her eyes/face too.

When it puts its head down, it gets the bedding dust all over it, could that be what’s causing the sneezing?

We're following along in this thread as we have a Silkie chick (11 weeks old now) with similar issues, issues that just started this past Tuesday morning (June 22, 2021).

Wish you all the best with your baby!

Hello, I've found this thread after googling how to help my 4 week old silkie, I came home last night to find her on the other side of the brooder away from the heat lamp by herself with her neck dropped over to the side, she is unable to walk, and her head and neck just twitch and flutter around, so horrible to see. I took her out of the brooder and put her on a towel on my bed beside me with the electric blanket on. She has survived the night and drank some water but she can't eat the chicken starter it's too course, I ground it up but she's not interested. Do vets stock nutridrench? I'm about to go to the supermarket to buy sunflower seeds and grind them up with water to try and feed her. I tried giving my chicks scrambled egg a few days ago and they weren't interested.... Any help much appreciated in this horrible time.
