I'm redesigning my run to be walk in and I need more hardware cloth. I'm considering getting 1/2 inch by 3 inch coated 16g welded wire for ease of use (man I hate hardware cloth). Is this a terrible idea?

Yes.

You do not want any holes larger than 1/2 inch.

Get half inch hardware cloth.

Curious about this product, never seen that size before, got a link?

Interesting opening size... Technically the 1/2" width should exclude rats and most snakes.
Agrees...tho a young raccoon may be able to get an arm thru.

I live in the city and my backyard is fenced with a solid wood 6 foot fence, which excludes most of the big predators like dogs. We mostly have raccoons, opossums and Hawks
