I have Norwegian Jaerhon penned with mine, so we are building a coop for the beilies. The NJ roo is already matured so he is mating the beilie hen, not hatching yet

. She is still at pullet egg stage so am waiting anyways.

Where would be a good place to buy some?
HARD to find. I lucked out since I take in unwanted flocks due to rezoning, and find homes for them.
I knew the history of these birds, kind of fell into my lap, literally! Knew where the eggs originated from, and who bought them.
Post on here looking for eggs, or chicks. I am not aware of any other thread petaining to this breed.

I am sure you already know this but just in case. When you do get the new pen built you will need to wait a few weeks before collecting your hatching eggs. Otherwise you may not have pure Bielefelder chicks because they have been mating with the other rooster.

Are you looking for hatching eggs or chicks? I have eggs now will have chicks in a month. Shipping from me to you would be high. I would try to find some closer to you if you want chicks. If you can't find anyone let me know. Pam

Personally, I think the best place to buy some is directly from a nearby breeder, but given that these birds are still not widely known or appreciated, there are some alternatives:
  1. eBay for hatching eggs, though you never know about the quality or hatchability of your eggs.
  2. Greenfire Farms, which is responsible for bringing the breed here to begin with, does sell chicks. Here's their link: http://greenfirefarms.com/about/
  3. Some of the other specialized, online hatchers selling Biel chicks or their eggs include:
    1. http://omegahillsfarm.com/
    2. http://jdschickens.com/
    3. http://www.bulbsoffire.com/

I can't speak to the credibility of any of the hatcheries listed, but there are some of the ones I came across in my own quest. Good luck!
