A Bielefelder Thread !

If you breed a Bielefelder roo to RIR, BR, or any other breed of chicken, will the autosexing trait be passed on to that offspring?

Sexlinked sexing I believe, but they won't breed true in the next generation.

May have confused the question by the way I asked it....Would the chicks from a Biele roo and a delaware hen be autosexed at birth?

Yes and no! If you use a delaware hen they are supposed to be SILVER that is a sex link trait and all the cockerels will be silver and pullets would be red I think. The Biele roo will not produce sex linked chicks. The barring that helps make the autosexing birds sex linked comes from the hens to make sex links. Roos pass that trait off to ALL offspring.

Does this buff Orpington rooster looks nice to breed or is he a cull?
