Sorry for everyone's losses.
Aroura the turkey will stay friendly as adults but when they are in breeding season they are very protective of their hens. I found that if I pet my hens neck or chest the tom's don't get huffy about it.
And the toms will stay friendly. Hen's they are iffy. lol
But none of my birds hurt me. I did have a hen that did not like me and she tried to fly at my head, but my tom flew up and bounced her back! That was my pet ACE! My first turkey pet.
I never trust a Tom. not even JJ around small people. My grandkids love JJ, but I stand between them or hold JJ when they want to pet him. When I was about 6-7 I was chased around and around a vinegar barrel by a Tom. Scared me poopless. My Dad came to my rescue, and the Tom became a Sunday dinner guest.
Just saying you can never be too careful with a Tom. The only time I have had a hen come at me is when they have poults.
Growing up on a farm, we were taught a healthy respect for all male animals. Breeders).
