A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Lol, wow! My chickens come charging out like that but the turkeys just kind of meander out haha! I take it, that's their favorite bush there?

That is their Lilac bush. They love it. They have all the dirt dug up in and around it. They have holes a foot deep where they dust bathe. The other day a meth boy was in the hole and the hole was deeper than he was lying down.

Ralphie. ..it's a great looking flock! Mine dig dust bath craters! Here is Louise in one. She stayed in the crater so long I thought she was stuck.

Thank you everyone for condolences. Yesterday was rough. Today was rough.

Goodbye my friend Dinner. You were a great turkey and I am so thankful I was able to raise you in a healthy and happy way. I am sure your entire 35 lbs will be enjoyed immensely in November.

This is my afternoon. Drinking while sitting in the run with the new hen. She misses her old comrades, is crying to them. All the while, Banshee is very excited to get to know her. He is patiently awaiting me letting him in and trilling at her. He is sitting by the door to the run.

My daughter loves her, she wanted another slate, but they were all males. So we settled for another Tomahawk!

Charmed- I am so sorry to hear about your mom.

Cheers to Dinner. I'm toasting with a beer.

You new hen is beautiful. Hopefully your daughter will develop a great relationship with her! Sounds like Banshee is already trying to make friends.

I need another beer.....

Daisy is a territorial lap hog. I picked up Annie Jones & had her sitting in my lap. Was trying to find remnants of her missing beard. Daisy kept circling the chair. She finally grabbed Annie's tail feathers. Annie of course immediately hopped down & Annie hopped up. Such funny birds.

I have never seen that flavor Mike's MM.

Is it good I notice you went for the harder and not the hard. What is the new girls name?

That picture of you holding the Mikes remind me of a cute story from the weekend Camp. My two Granddaughters were her, 5 and 4. They are going to play "house" and the 4 year old is going to be the Mommy the 5 year old the kid.

Then the 4 year old is heard to say, when 5 year old asks some "kid question". "Just a second daughter, I need to find where I put my beer".

The funny thing the funny thing is the 4 year olds mother does not drink beer!

That is so funny! Kids pick up on the funniest things!
In Kindergarten, my daughter drew a picture of our family. I had a glass of wine in my hand.

So that flavor of Mikes was in the "sale" cart at the front of my favorite "pharmacy". I thought I would give it a shot. It tastes like an Angry Orchard with some cinnamon schnapps in it. Not too bad.
If it had been regular Mikes, not the harder, I would have passed it over. Gone to the cooler for hard cider and to the schnapps isle. I really like that combo in the fall.

The new lady has been lovingly referred to as "Tomahawk's Replacement". I have a feeling we will always have a "Banshee" and a "Tomahawk".

Last night, Banshee made it clear that the humans were his, not hers.
I went out to be sure she got to the roost and to offer some consoling pets. Banshee jumped down from his favorite roost (a beam between the pergola on the deck and the house) and ran over squawking up a racket. He flew into her quarantine, chased her off the roost, and made sure he got some scratches. By the way, he would never go in the quarantine area before, it was beneath him.
He followed me out, went back to his roost.
Tomahawk cried for a while, but settled down soon enough.
He got all worked up this morning too. But, when I am not out there, he is laying by the quarantine chatting with her. I think they will become quick friends.

So I see from your signature there, Ralph, that you offer a myriad of services. I think you should also include fashion consulting. I've seem some pretty hip socks and sandals from your pics and videos.

Memphis- protective turkeys! Banshee also thinks he owns me.... obviously.

Turkeys are so weird about possessing humans.

JJ does not like to be held. BUT if we hold another turkey, mainly Ethel, he gets jealous and struts right next to us as if we should be holding him, even though he hates it.

Then again he could be jealous because he considers Ethel to be his. Ethel is not big on being held either but she does not fight it. She likes to just talk, If you pick her up while talking she will stop for few minutes before she start talking again. I think she is telling us everything we are doing wrong.

I will add fashion consultant immediately.

I had no idea how possessive turkeys can be. Just another thing I've learned about them. I can pick up any of my chickens. The other chickens could care less. In fact they get these little relived looks on their faces that it's not them being scooped up & hugged. Little twerps.

That is so true Memphis!
But man, pick up a chicken with Banshee around... he gets ticked off! He makes sure the chicken knows their place when I set them back down.
I've put him in his place a couple of times. He looks like a wounded puppy.

Did everyone see that Holm has a pic of one of his girls up on "pic of the week"?! I'm so proud of our little Holm. You should treat yourself with a nice strong Shirley Temple!
