A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

Quiet around here today!

Rainy morning. Went to release the turkeys & Daisy was still on her roost. It was pretty dark due to rain....guess she was sleeping in! Usually she's up & having breakfast by the time I open their coop run. Gave her another 15 minutes. By then she was up eating. Boy...her tail is starting to look nice! Big black spots....

Cuddles is looking nice too. She has a lot of white spots this time around with black speckles all over them. Sweet Pea is still bald as ever, if not more. She's been shivering in this colder weather. Angelica isn't looking great. I've been treating her with Corid but she's not eating or drinking much and seems weak. I'm trying to get more in to her. She's either dealing with Cocci or botulism. I'm hoping it's Cocci and i can get enough meds her to bring her back. If it's botulism, the outlook isn't very good at all :/ I really don't want to lose her.

Sure hope Angelica gets well.
Daisy tweaked her ankle the other day & limped for a whole 5 steps & I was ready to take off work & hold her wing in sympathy. If I have an issue with a dog, my vet is great....but one of my turkeys...I get a little freaky knowing medical help is in short supply. Even our local avian vet admits to knowing zip about turkeys. Give him a parrot or raptor, hes fine...but ask him about your turkey & you get a blank stare. He's actually married to a friend of mine & I'm always teasing him about getting up to speed on turkeys....

Poor Sweet Pea has been shivering!

My turkeys look pretty pitiful right now too. All except the newbie hen I introduced late last night after dark after a week or so of her being locked in the dog crate.

Some slight pecking at her from the top hen but that’s to be expected... I think none have started fights because they’re probably feeling off due to the molt so they’ve been fairly well behaved... I stopped getting eggs and they’re not letting the tom mount them right now in their various balding states. I’m sure they don’t mind being half naked for our fluke 3 day run of 85 degree weather though. For once they weren’t panting!
