Had to go back & look at Lil. Phil & Mister's pictures again. Phil is making me rethink the convent concept over here! What a hunk o' turkey!!

Yeah running through snow in a panic is great cardioR2elk....the serenity of a convent...
I can vouch for those hen saddles!
Molpet....sounds like you got your exercise in for the day! LOL!
No Convent here. The breeding tom is still here or there would not be any future poults to happen.R2elk....the serenity of a convent...

Porter confirmed, penciled fall fire!
The only hen that I have a saddle on is the 11 year old. When you have sufficient hens and do not keep multiple toms in with them and do not allow the toms access to the nests, saddles are not normally needed. There are sometimes poor breeding toms that can cause problems anyways but those don't get second chances here.If I had breeding turkey hens, I'd for sure have them in saddles. Especially after seeing some of the injuries the Tom's can cause.
R2elk....is your 11 year old hen still laying??
Me! Me! Me! My dd's favorite turkey stilts might get her feathers back soon..... she has been molting. And if we have any hope of taking her to fair..... and having her look decent I think we need to put a saddle onSpeaking of breeding season... If anyone needs any hen saddles...
