I have one very excellent turkey mother hen. Rosabelle has been very successful with her broods. One year she hatched 12 and had zero losses all the way to adulthood. She's my gold star broody royal Palm. The rest? Hit or miss, although Annabelle is pretty good.Ha I had looked under chickens, but not the tom... he has the missing poultmaybe the 2 of them can raise 2 poults
. The last to decide on the baby rabies virus succomed last night. These ladies are worse than my chicken hens to break! I do all the right things, no nest material, food, water and roost for up to a week dependin on how they are each.... and let them out. Poof back to a nest, on a rock, fluffy and hissin and strikin at me. I am doomed! Doomed i tell ya! I will not have fresh turkey eggs til next spring at this rate. If the snake is like last year she didnt give me anymore eggs, road runner was spotty, the rp well she was just a wench and refused to not be broody, now i got a new last years hen that i have no idea what she will do. I just need get me a few bb bronzes to keep for eggs since they dont go broody lol! They would most likely live here for a while cause the feed is limited to certain times of the day and the rest of the time they must forage for stuff. Sister was about three when she left.... but i think her leavin was a dumb accident. :/. She flipped over dust bathin and couldnt get turned back over.

I had both BBWs and BBBs that went broody. They aren't good mothers because of their inability to move their feet as delicately as the heritage hens can.
ummm my BBB went broody, broke her and 3 wks later she went broody again
she smashed her own eggs accidentally and never got a fertile egg from her anyway.
