A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

If he came from your Porter eggs, wouldn't that make him an Indiana Black? :p

Fiesty-sounds like you're pheasant wants to join your flock! Maybe he's jealous of the free food they get lol

Ralph-love the pictures!

Yesterday, hubby and I had different things to do with the kids so we were gone all evening. He was first to get home so he had to put the turkeys away. Bare in mind that he works 2nd shift throughout the week and rarely ever does anything with the birds. All he knows it's that there are 11 turkeys lol. 3 of them decided to go roost in the chicken coop. Right now I have a crate set up in it for my silkies to be seperated so it's in the way. He had to climb in, catch the offending turkeys to return them to their own coop (both palms of course, and Cuddles). He didn't want to talk about it when I asked lol. He said he got beat to death with wings and covered in poop! He was NOT happy! I asked him why he didn't just grab them by the legs then around the wings as soon as they calm down. He knows that move well from when we butcher chickens. I got a stunned silence, then an, "is that ok?" Lol, he cracks me up!

Where is everybody??

I had a meeting this morning with a general contractor on one of our projects. Got back to the office and a coworker asked how it went. Told him the guy was a "bellybutton". Eeeks!

I can just picture the look he gave you for that descriptor :p

It's been quiet here - dark when I get up, dark when I get home.... I hate this time of year! Birds go to bed without me and I only see them awake on weekends, sigh. Open their door before I leave and they're still sleeping, come home to count heads and close the door.

I think even Coco has finally given up laying, it's been about a week since I had a turkey egg. Perhaps she'll molt now? Big Bird molted a while ago, and Coco looks pretty darn shabby next to her. The boys are done molting and are back to their beautiful selves again.

I'm going to New Zealand for a month mid-December and it will be middle of summer there. Can't wait to see daylight again!!!! It'll be nice to see family too lol.

Are you taking Big Bird and Coco with you?

Could you take me with? I am really more of a summer than a winter person, and if I fill the waterers and feeders the birds might be ok for a month..

I have a question for all you turkey lovers. I have two Jakes and four hens and two questionable turkeys. Seven of them are Narragansett and the other one is a Sweetgrass. But my problem is two of my birds strut with the Jakes but dont have the beard bump like my boys have and can barely gobble and dont have the beard bump but are the two oldest Turkeys of the Narragansetts.

Hens can strut but only toms will gobble. If they gobble, they're boys.
