A century of Turkey talk 2000-2100.

So she was off the nest this morning (should I assume they’re all a loss if she left them?). She went back on top of them since. I checked for any cracked ones. She has kicked out about 5 rotten or dud eggs (and the other birds and wasps ate them). So today she has 13 in her nest.. so she’s just stealing the other hens eggs since a week ago she had 10. I found one cold left off to the side and cracked it open and it was about 1/3 developed but dead. Used it for a diy fly/wasp trap... stanky rotting eggs work great for that at least.

She is the sweetest little lap turk

did she just take an early broody break? shame you can't candle them inside a box while she is off.

Apparently, having those two little poults in with the flock has brought the broody gene out in just about all the mature girls. Eve doesn't do much but will hang out with the 3 moms and the poults and Miss Cuddles has taken to laying in the corner near the broody girls every evening. Tonight, both poults were snuggled under her lol. I watch both of them stick their little heads out from under her, yawn, then snuggle in while Cuddles was laying there preening herself before bed. The only one not showing any interest is Sweet Pea. They have got to be the most cared for poults ever! I only wish they were a little more social with me. They both run away terrified :/
