With my latest hatch: here's the details...

Last chick to hatch was about 4 days behind the first, and needed help. I essentially did an egg cesarean. Now, I may have caused the problem, but was worried it wasn't going to be able to hatch on its own.

Things didn't look great... it was still curled up and spent a long time laying on the ground. I decided to see what would happen.

Over time, buddy uncoiled itself, and was pushing itself around, but couldn't stand. It essentially would end up flipped on its back flailing it's legs. I have had this happen before, and I culled, but I wanted to see if I could fix it. So, I did some research here.

I knew it wasn't splay Leg, it wouldn't even try to stand on that leg.... I'd pick it up and it would kick wildly, but Leg was just weak, so.... the dude was a fighter, so I didn't want to give up.

I put it in a shot glass, which made sure it could only stand, but was supported, so kind of like a cast, could let it strengthen its bad leg. I made sure food and water were nearby (was close to 24hrs old at this point) and waited.

THIS MORNING, I woke up and could hear peeping from the incubator and went to check. And? What do you know, little buddy had climbed his way out, and was standing in the corner screaming. Now the little buddy won't slow down long enough to get a good picture.

So, never give up :)
