Accent Test

Which American accent do you have?

Neutral

You`re not Northern, Southern, or Western, you`re just plain -American-. Your national identity is more important than your local identity, because you don`t really have a local identity. You might be from the region in that map, which is defined by this kind of accent, but you could easily not be. Or maybe you just moved around a lot growing up.

Good thing it didn't listen to me sound out the questions 3 or 4 times before I could give an answer

Well, part of the test is flawed, for sure. My DH had the same reaction about the word "ON". None of the answers match the way we say it. Neither of us, nor most of our relatives raised in the South say it to sound like "Lawn" or "John". Sounds like "Own".

Neutrel
i'm not surprized
i litterly lived half my life in Louisiana and Mississipi and lived the other half in Minnesota and North Dakota
however i do say things like "I don't got no/none..." "I ain't... "I ain't got no/none" "I don't got no/nome" all the time. Plus i can talk fluently in a southern accent

It's funny to me that people hear a difference between Canadian and "American". My family is Canadian and I don't hear hardly any difference between Canadian and the people who live in Michigan, at least. Just a few words said slightly different, plus many people in Michigan say those words like the Canadians do, anyway.

hahaha!! I re-took the test and paid much more attention to the questions and got "Neutral American" -- which I feel is accurate. I won't say what I got at first but I will describe how I felt about the results:
