I don't do medicated starter.. but that's me. I don't do medicated anything, really. I feel that building a strong immune system is better than preventative medication. Never had cocci (atleast that I am aware of) and never lost a chicken *knock on wood* One day perhaps I will change my tune.. we'll see. I'm the kind of momma that lets her kids eat sand and sticks.
I eat my steak rare and my eggs over easy.
To each their own ofcourse.. gotta go with whatever lines up with your personal approach.
I tend to let nature take it's course. The strong live, the weak die, don't interfere -too- much.. unless it was an accident (like an animal attack. I do treat those... not their fault they're so darn delicious looking). That said, electrolytes, scrambled eggs, probiotics.. all good stuff to try. You're not going to end up with a overly dependent chicken from giving them an energy boost. I wouldn't try for more than a day or two though... if there's no improvement at that point, it's just not meant to be. Syringe feeding for life is madness (although some folks do it... )
