I put my each of my hygrometers in it's own bag with it's own mug of salt/water at approx noon today. Here it is almost midnight 12 hours later and they're both reading 55%.

Did I do something wrong? Was I supposed to use warm/hot water or are both of my h-meters really that far off?
I put new batteries in them before they went into their bags.

I'm going to have a full freezer this fall... If my guess is right 3 out of my 5 are roo's!

But, then again the one on the left has some VERY nice foot feathering....hummm....

I have 3 that look like the one on the left and two that look like the one on the right.

Just remember that the standard calls for "very sparse" foot feathering on the Marans... not like what we'd look for in a silkie or something. I'm curious to see how the one on the left feathers out. The red in the feathers is very pretty, and very prominent for such a young chick...

Yea, his feathering is only down the one toe, so thats a good thing....

They are beautiful.... And if you are thinking of putting that little guy on the left in the freezer...Send him to me instead! The eggs mine came from are nice and dark but some of the chicks have smooth legs. If I ever want more, feathered is what I'd like to work with....soooo..
