Here is one of my stories!
A Day in the Field

My days as a falconer start early in the morning as I must get myself and my best bird ready for a day of hunting in the field.
My best bird if you're wondering, is a 3-year-old peregrine falcon by the name of Thunder, now he earned his name because the peregrine falcon is the fastest bird in the world and that is one of the reasons he is my best hunter.
There are multiple things to be done before we can hit the field.
First I must go out to his enclosure and retrieve him, then I must weigh him to make sure he's the ideal weight for a peregrine falcon.
Once I have finished weighing him I put his anklets and jesses on, those are the pieces of leather they wear on their legs, then I put his hood on so he doesn't spook during the car ride.
Awhile later we reach our destination, a quiet open field.
I unload my equipment, put on my glove, make sure I have my whistle, and finally, I bring out Thunder.
Now that we're out in the field I take off his hood and now he can see everything around him, as I was walking I noticed that he was persistently looking at something over in the brush, I take out a small pair of binoculars and look in the same direction.
I then spotted what Thunder was looking at, it was a small flock of ground birds, so I unhooked his jesses from my glove and almost immediately he took off like a bullet after the small flock of birds.
Now he was in a high-speed chase with his prey and determined not to lose it, I took out my binoculars again and kept an eye on him, and when he dove into the flock I thought he missed, but then I heard the bells on his anklets ringing, so I knew he must've gotten something.
I ran over to him as fast as I could and when I got there he had his feathers all fluffed up and wings drooped, I reached down and picked him up, re-hooking his jesse to my glove, once I had him secured on my glove I reached down and picked up what was left of a small bird and put it in my bag.
As I was heading back to the car I stroked his soft feathery chest for a bit and complimented his good hunting, I could tell he was pleased with himself, so we both enjoyed a beautiful sunset.
Once I got back to the car I loaded him back in, put his hood on, and shut the small door on his crate.
A short while later finally got back home, so I took Thunder back to his enclosure and said goodnight, fed him, and then headed back inside.
Today was a great day in the field.
I didn't see this until now.

I love it! This is coming from a birdwatcher and a writer/reader :)
I noticed it is written in a sort of present perspective. (Example, instead of "I walked to the window and saw a bird," it is "I walk to the window and see a bird.") I have heard this is harder and I'm impressed!

Y'all ever have a dream that you wanna make into a story but for one reason or another you can't cause it doesn't fit what you're comfortable writing?
Yes, a lot of the time! But I figured out if I let it "simmer" in my mind for a while and maybe write down a little I can find out if the story is a fit for me to write. This works part, though not all, if the time.

  • What story are you working on right now? Want to share?
  • What is your favorite book or series and what are you reading right now? (Reading impacts writing a lot)
  • What is your favorite genre to read/write?
  • Do you prefer first, second, or third perspective?
  • How would you describe your writing style?
  • What part(s) of writing a story do you struggle with?
(All my stories are considered safe for younger ages to read,(No cussing, inappropriate content, etc.) but they are not exactly children's stories.)
A fanfiction for an anime I favor! Of course, I would love to share!
It doesn't have a name yet, but I hope to figure it out!
(As for the story, it is revolved around a Fiance couple, who one night find an abandoned baby on their doorstep. And the story will head in the direction of what happens, and the challenges they will face in becoming new parents, (eventually).)

(The anime is called: Mahouka Kokou No Retoussie in Japanese, but in English, it is called, The Irregular at magic high school)
I don't watch it, and I don't read the light novels either, but I am familiar with the characters and have been browsing around at it for a while.

Hurt/comfort and Romance! Medical settings.(Having been around hospitals for a long time)

1st perspective!

When I get an idea in my head, via a show, book, or movie, my mind can wander, and then it leads to a writing spree. I influence many of my stories around events that I have seen and take my interest in.
When dealing with an event, such as in this particular story, I try my best to comply with reality, but for this one, I plan to bend reality, just so that it doesn't become too complex to write and enjoy reading. :D

When I hit the end of a paragraph or the start of a new chapter, I can sometimes struggle with figuring out what to say/begin with. And with past fanfics, I have the tendency to abandon the story at some point, so many of my previous stories are unfinished

Here it is! The story itself! (I'm in no need of advice or corrections right now, as I will correct grammar errors in my own time, so just read and enjoy it!)☺️
(Story Start date: July 23….)
Fictional time and date: Date: July 23rd, year: around 2095.
(The first part of the story goes from 9:30 pm to 10:00 pm)

It was 9:30 that night, Kei, my fiance, and I were snuggled up on the couch, just finishing up a movie, when we heard a mysterious knock on the door --- “Kei,” I began, “would you-”, “I’m already on it”, said Kei, walking over to the door to see who was there. He opened up the door, but there was no one there. “Who’s is it,” I asked him from my spot on the couch, “No one-” Kei said, then gasped, as he heard the sound of an infant’s cry. “Uh, Kanon, you might want to see this,” he said, looking down into the basket.
Kanon got off the couch and walked over to Kei, who was stuck in a downward gaze, “Kei, why do you have a picnic basket?” “And why is it crying?!” she asked, very confused. Kei didn’t say much, but opened up one side of the basket, and revealed the small child inside it ~ Kanon was just as surprised as her Fiance, “Quick Kei, bring it in.” she said, ushering him over to the table, where he could set the basket down.
The two of them stood there, wondering why this baby was left on their porch, and what they should do with it. Kanon then reached into the basket, picking up the baby, and holding it close to her --- “Oh, Kei,” Kanon said, looking down at the baby, who was shivering, “why would someone do such a thing, abandon a baby?” “I don’t know,” Kei replied, “but obviously they didn‘t want it.”
(POV Change)
As Kanon held the baby, trying to warm it up, Kei inspected the basket: In it, he found a box of formula, a bottle, and a couple of diapers, enough supplies to hold them over until the next morning. “Well,” said Kei, “at least whoever it was had the decency to leave us with some supplies. ”We should have enough here to last till tomorrow.” Then, he looked over, hearing no response from Kanon, and what he saw was absolutely heartwarming: Kanon was lying down on the couch, both the baby and her now asleep. Kei smiled to himself, walked over, and laid a blanket over them. He whispered “Goodnight” to Kanon, and kissed her on the forehead ~ Then he strode down the hall, heading to his room to retire for the night.

It was about 12:00 pm later that night when Kei awoke to the sound of crying, and the shuffling of feet across the floor. So he got out of his bed to check on Kanon and the baby ~ After walking back up the hall, and into the living room, he found Kanon pacing the floor, trying to calm the child down. “Shh,” she said, “It’s okay, just calm down.” “Kanon, is everything alright?” Kei asked, entering the living room. “I don’t know, I woke up to his crying….” she replied, quickly glancing at Kei, then back to the baby. “Maybe’s he’s hungry?” Kei guessed. “You might be right,” she agreed, “can you make him a bottle?” she asked, with a pleading look on her face.
“Alright,” Kei said, then walked over to the counter, and began to mix the formula. After he was finished, he put it in the baby’s bottle and brought it over to Kanon ~ “Here you go,” he told her and handed her the bottle, “I hope this works.” “I do too,” she replied, then sat back down. Once sitting, she took the nipple and gently tickled it to the baby’s lip, and to their surprise, and pleasure, he gladly accepted. He was no longer crying! Kanon and Kei both sighed in relief and looked at each other, smiling.

I understand this. I have so many thoughts that I want to put into story form, but some/most can be topics I am not comfortable writing/explaining.

I don't usually influence any of my stories on my dreams, mainly real-life events. But I think that you have a great mind for writing! :D

I do, however, (daydream perhaps) about ideas all the time! They can and will play in my head like a movie/scene!

I present to y'all, chapter #2!
It was around 10:30 am that morning when Kanon and Kei made their decision, and that decision was to take the baby to the high school’s resident nurse, fill her in on the situation, and get the baby a check-up. Once the two, er, three of them got to the school, they went straight to the school infirmary --- “Nurse Satomi?” Kei called, “are you here?” Kei and Kanon looked around, then they heard a voice respond: “Who is it?” the voice called out. “It’s me, Kei Isori, and Kanon Chiyoda,” he called back. Then the nurse stepped out from behind a curtain, and strode up to the two of them, “Oh, Kanon, Kei, I’m surprised to see you two! What are you doing here?” “Well, it’s kind of a funny story…” Kanon replied looking up at Satomi, then down at the picnic basket in her hands. “What’s in that basket? Did you two bring me breakfast?” she asked, very curious, and baffled. “Not exactly,” said Kei, and motioned for Kanon to set the basket on the bed in front of them and open it….

Before she opened it, Kanon asked Nurse Satomi one thing: “Nurse Satomi, please, don’t tell anyone else about this. You’re going to be the only one who knows.” Now Satomi was really confused, why was Kanon asking this of her. “Well, I would like to know what’s going on before I make any promises.” she replied, “So can one of you two tell me?” Kei looked over at Kanon with a pleading look in his eyes, “Please Kanon. Remember what you said?” Kanon knew that this couldn’t be avoided, so she opened the basket lid, and revealed what was inside. When the nurse looked inside the basket, her heart almost stopped --- “What are you two doing with a baby?! And where did it come from? I thought you were still fiancés.” “ We are!” “But you see Nurse Satomi, this isn’t our baby” Kei explained, looking over at Kanon who was now holding it, “We found him on our doorstep last night….”

Satomi was shocked at this news, “So, you think he was abandoned?” she asked. “Yes, we believe so. As they left us with enough supplies to last a couple of days.” Kei told her, “So we weren’t exactly unprepared.” Nurse Satomi thought about this for a moment, “Have you spoken with any authorities yet? Usually, they would take custody of the child.” This suggestion caught Kanon off-guard, “Wait, you don’t mean…. Turn him in?” Kei saw the obvious distress on his fiancee’s face, and he wanted to say something reassuring, but what could he say? All he would be telling her was the truth of which she didn’t want to face. “I couldn’t do that,” Kanon stated, “then I would be abandoning him…again.”

The rest of chapter two!
Both Nurse Satomi and Kei could tell that obviously, she had bonded quickly to the baby, so this was going to make the situation harder. “Kanon,” Satomi began, “in this situation, one should contact authorities, or 110* right away.” “But why?!” Kanon asked sounding in a state of dismay. Satomi sighed, but continued on, “When the baby is turned in, it gives the authorities a chance to locate the parents.”
{*110 is the Japanese version of the USA’s 911}

Kanon was confused and conflicted, although she knew both her friend and finance were right, she didn’t want to accept the fact that she would have to give up the baby. The baby they found and took in under their wings. Everyone was speechless, the room became deathly quiet until the baby in question began to stir and then cry. Kanon heard the baby’s cry and immediately began to soothe him, whispering comforting words to him. This made him stop crying, but the sight of Kanon being able to quickly and efficiently soothe the baby left Kei and Nurse Satomi in awe. But it gave Kei, being her fiance and rather fond of the baby himself, a twinge of guilt…. Was he going to hurt Kanon and the baby by doing what he knew was right?

Someone needed to speak up, so Satomi did, “If the both of you want to help this baby, then please meet me here tomorrow around 11:00 am on Wednesday, and we can go over a few more things.” She said, looking at both of them. “But in the meantime, what I think all of you need to do is go home, get some rest, and think this over, deeply.” “Yes, Nurse Satomi.” Kanon and Kei said in unison. As they were about to head out the door, Satomi realized she had one more thing to tell Kei. “Oh, Kei,” she called, “Can I speak with you? I promise it won’t take long. “Alright,” Kei agreed, “Kanon, why don’t you head out to the car with the baby?” “Sure,” she said and made her way to the front of the school, where the car was.

“Kei, I’m sorry to tell you this….” Satomi began. “Sorry to tell me what?” Kei asked.
I’m sorry to say, that I feel I need to call the police.” “What?!” Kei said, shocked at this reply, “Why?” “Kei, if you turn the baby in, and they don’t find the parents, they’ll release the baby for adoption,” she explained to him. “Really?” he questioned. “Yes, and in the meantime, you too can apply to be foster parents.” This news made Kei feel more hopeful about what they needed to do, but, what about Kanon? Would she feel the same way? “Well,” he began, “I’m willing to be on board, but I’m not sure about Kanon….” “I think the quicker we get this part over with, the easier it will be for her. And we can use the excuse ” Satomi said but understood Kei’s worry. “I better get going, or Kanon might suspect something,” he said with a small smile, “she’s a smart one.” “And thank you for all your help Nurse Satomi. I really appreciate it.” “You're welcome Kei, anytime,” she replied with a soft expression. Then Kei met Kanon out at the car, and they left to return home.

Once they made it home, the baby, in his own way, told Kanon that he wanted to be fed, so she got right to it! --- While Kanon was busy feeding, Kei was trying to think of a way to get Kanon on board with meeting Nurse Satomi on Wednesday. How should he go about it? Just tell her the truth? “I can’t do that,” he thought, “I’m not sure what she might do if I told her the truth….” His train of thought was interrupted when Kanon called out to him, “Kei, come here! You’ve got to see this” Kei decided he would think about it later. “What is it Kanon?” Kei asked as he walked over to the couch where Kanon was sitting. “Look at the smile on the baby’s face when I tickled him!” she exclaimed. Kanon then tickled him, showing Kei what she was talking about, and this made Kei himself smile. “Aw! That’s so cute, and he looks so happy.” “I know!” Kanon told him,
“I was also thinking….” --- When Kei heard that, inside he felt slightly alarmed, “Oh no,” He thought to himself, “what could she be thinking of now?!” “What were you thinking about Kanon?” He asked, trying to sound inconspicuous.

“Well, I was thinking that the baby needs a name. Since he didn’t seem to have one when we found him.” Kei sure was surprised at her reply, “Are you sure that a good idea?” “Well, I don’t think it would hurt anything,” Kanon said hesitantly, but she could tell by Kei’s face that he thought otherwise. “Kanon, you know what nurse Satomi said, and if you name him now, that would make it a lot harder to…” he explained, then stopped. “To what, Kei?”, she asked him. Kei knew this might upset Kanon, but it had to be said, “If we do have to give him up.” he told her, but he then saw that it had a negative effect than what he wanted, as Kanon grew a very distraught look on her face. “Kei,” she said with a firm tone, “I can’t give this baby up. Who knows what they would do to him.” Kei sighed again and thought that reasoning wouldn’t do much good now, so he said, “Kanon, Nurse Satomi wants to meet with us one more time, on Wednesday. She forgot to check something on the baby. Is that alright with you?” Before Kanon replied, she thought for a second, “What could she possibly have forgotten?” but she knew that if it was for the baby’s health, she couldn’t disagree. Plus, she trusted Nurse Satomi. “That’s fine, as long as it is for the baby’s good, then I am on board!” “Phew, that went better than I hoped,” but then he thought about something else…”Would I be betraying Kanons trust doing this?” This thought worried him, but he knew that it would benefit them all in the long run.

After their big discussion, the day seemed to go by quickly, and before they knew it, it was almost bedtime. Kei and Kanon were ready for bed, as was the baby, he was fed, changed, and rather sleepy. And with bedtime, came a question, “Uh, Kanon,” Kei asked her, “where will the baby sleep?” Kanon was hoping he would ask this question! “Right next to our bed here, I took a large laundry basket, and lade some blankets down! See?” Kei looked down at the floor on Kanon’s side of the bed, and was rather impressed, “Well, that’s creative! Good thinking, I wasn’t looking forward to laundry anyway!” he said with a laugh. And shortly after, once goodnights were said, everyone fell fast asleep…. That is until the baby wakes up again at three in the morning to be changed or fed!

{End of chapter 2}
There are four pages worth of writing here!
Today Kanon, Kei, and the baby were supposed to meet with Nurse Satomi again…. And someone else. “Kanon,” Kei called, “we have to go!” “Alright, we’ll be right there!” she called back. Now, Kei knew that it was going to be hard getting Kanon back to the school if she knew the truth, so he decided to keep the real reason for their meeting a secret by using an excuse.
“Alright, we're ready!” she said as she approached Kei and the front door. “Good, now go ahead and meet me in the car. There’s just one thing I need to do.” he explained, “Alright.” she replied, and kissed him on the cheek, which made him blush. --- As Kanon made her way to the car, Kei stepped outside, but stood quite a ways off, and pulled out his phone. There was a message from someone asking him to call them back, so he quickly dialed the number, and waited for them to pick up….
“Hello? Is this Nurse Satomi?” Kei asked over the phone, “This is her.” the voice answered back, “Are you on your way?” “Yes, we are just about to leave. But I was wondering….” Kei replied, “What is it?” the voice asked. “Are *they* with you?” Nurse Satomi was confused at first, but then it hit her, “Oh, yes, they are. We are just waiting for you.” “Alright,” He started, “but once we get there, keep them out of sight, and we’ll continue on with the last-minute check.” “Of course,” she assured him. “Goodbye,” Kei said, hanging up, then got in the car. --- “Who was that Kei?” Kanon inquired, with a curious look on her face. “Oh, it was just Nurse Satomi, she wanted to make sure we were coming to get him checked again.” “Alright!” Kanon said, believing him. And then the two of them dove off, and made their way back to the school, just as they did on Monday.

After the trio made it to their destination and parked the car, they entered the school and walked down the halls toward the Infirmary to meet once again with the nurse, Satomi! “There you three are!” Satomi exclaimed as she greeted them in the hallway, “I’ve been waiting for you.”
“Well, we made it here, and in one piece!” Kei said jokingly. Then, Satomi turned her head to look over at Kanon, “And hello to you too Kanon. I’m glad you decided to come.” “Of course! I’d do anything for this little one!” Kanon said as she booped him on the nose which made him smile. “Follow me, and we’ll finish that check! It shouldn’t take long.” Satomi told them as they walked into the infirmary. --- “So, what was it you wanted to check Nurse Satomi?” Kanon asked as she set him down on the medical bed in front of her. “Oh, nothing much,” she said, trying to sound candid, “I just want to check his hearing. This shouldn’t take long” --- As nurse Satomi continued with the procedure, which only took a few minutes, Kanon stayed close by, just so the baby didn’t panic. “I have good news. It seems his hearing is just fine!” “Well, that’s good,” Kei said. Then Kanon spoke, “Is there anything else you need to do nurse Satomi?” she asked, “I just want to make sure you don’t forget something again.” she said with a smile. “There is just one more thing,” she answered, trying to beat around the bush, “Let me go get what I need. I’ll be right back. As she walked out the door, and when Kanons back was turned, she whispered to Kei, “Keep her here, I’m going to go get who we discussed earlier.” She then walked out the door and down the hall….

Kei knew this idea had a 95% chance of going badly, but he kept reminding himself that it was for the baby’s sake, and Kanon’s. He also knew that they stood a good chance at getting him back so that relieved him a little.

After waiting for about 5 minutes, Kei heard footsteps in the hall, so he peeked out the door and saw three people: One being nurse Satomi, and the other two were men in casual clothes. But one of the two men looked familiar, so he decided to greet them. “Hello there,” Kei said politely, “May I ask who you are?” he said referring to the two men, especially the one who seemed to spark a familiarity…. “Hello there young man,” said the first man, “I’m inspector Chiba Toshikazu, I’m with the police department. And this is my partner, Lieutenant Fujibayashi Kyoko. We are here for the baby.” He explained.

Now Kei knew where this man was familiar from, he was the brother-in-law to his classmate Chiba Ericka, but he wasn't sure who the other woman was. “And may I ask who you are?” the inspector questioned. “I’m Isori Kei, I, along with my Fiance, Chiyoda Kanon, are the ones who found the baby.” Kei explained, “But I just wanted to ask you both one thing….” he told them. “What is it Isori-san?” the Lieutenant asked. “All I ask is that you take it easy on Kanon. She bonded very quickly, and I know it will be hard for her to let him go… as it is for me too.” Lt. Fujibayashi could see the slight nervousness on Kei’s face, “Don't worry, Isori-san, we’ll take it easy.” she reassured him. “Now, where is your Fiance?” she asked, looking around. And just as she asked that, Kanon, with the baby in her arms, peeked outside the door, and what she saw made her face pale.

As the two of them spoke, everyone else stood in silence. “Kei…” Kanon began hesitantly, “who are you talking to?” she asked, trying to keep the baby out of sight. When Kanon showed up, it made Kei’s heart stop, “Aw man…” Kei thought, “I hope this doesn’t take a wrong turn….” “Kanon,” he said, “It’s alright, you can come out, they are here to help us.” --- What Kei said didn’t answer her question, “Who are they Kei.” she asked a little more firmly, but with a shaky tone in her voice. Kei didn’t want to do this, but he had no other choice, “This is Inspector Chiba, and Lieutenant Fujibayashi. They are here for the baby….” he told her with a look of sorrow on his face, but this sorrow was for Kanon. His words made Kanon panic, “They're here for the baby?! She repeated in her mind, “This isn't good… I have to do something” And she began to think. What could she do?
“Kanon,” Nurse Satomi called to her, “you need to come out here.”
Kanon then quickly came up with a plan, but it did require her to leave the safety of the room and confront the two strangers. “Alright, I’m coming!” she called, then she stepped out into the hall. “Hello there Chiyoda-san,” the lieutenant said, greeting her in a friendly tone, “Please, don't be scared, we only want to help.” “Hello there…” Kanon replied she was grasping the baby tightly, not wanting to let him go. Then Kei rushed over to Kanon’s side, “Hey, Kanon, it’s okay. Just relax, everything will be alright” he whispered, trying to ease him, but he wasn’t sure it would work. Now Kanon loved Kei, but she couldn’t believe he went behind her back, especially in a situation like this.” May I speak with you for just a minute?” she asked Kei, ushering him over against the wall, “Sure.” He told her, then looked back at the others, “Give us one minute please.” he said with a pleading look in his eyes, then walked off.

“Kei,” Kanon began, “what were you thinking? And why are they going to take my baby?!” she asked, still very distraught. This particular moment made Kei uncomfortable, almost worse than facing the police. “We’re doing this for your own good, and the baby's,'' he told her. “But the baby needs me, and you Kei. It needs a family,” she stated. “I understand that Kanon, but if we give him to them, then they have a chance at finding his family.” Kanon didn’t like the sound of that either. “But Kei, why would they want him back?” “Obviously they didn’t want him in the first place.” Kei couldn’t argue with her point, which was a good one, but he also didn’t know what more he could tell her. She seemed almost delusional. “Kanon, please, just try to understand. How about you talk with them, and ask them what they plan to do?” After Kei said this, she came up with an idea. “Fine, if you say so, Kei. I’ll ask them… after I go change the baby.” She told him, “Now you just let them know where I’m going.” Kei wasn’t sure about what they would think, but it was the least he could do. “That’s good, now don’t try to take too long.”
“Okay,” she called back to him as she walked off. Inspector Chiba was beginning to lose his patience, “And just where is she going, Isori-san?” he asked Kei. “I would like to know that as well.” Nurse Satomi agreed. Kei knew everyone was getting tired of this charade, but he had to be honest. “She just went to change the baby, but she should be right back,” he informed them. As Kei said this, he thought to himself, dreading the worst, “I hope she comes back….”

Kanon did in fact have to change the baby, but it was also the perfect excuse for a grand escape. “Alright sweetie, let’s get you all cleaned up.” she told the baby with a smile, “Then I’ll get out of here.” After he was changed, Kanon had to think, “where do I go from here….” she wondered, looking around. “I can’t go back the way I came. So where can I go?” She had to think about this deeply, but she didn’t have much time before they would suspect where she went.
On the brighter side, there were a few good hiding places within the school grounds: The forest of which they use for training, the cafeteria building, the auditorium, and others, but which one would be best?
Inspector Chiba, still losing his patience, looked at his watch, “I think it has been about 5 minutes, Isori-san…. Where is your fiance?” Kei couldn’t tell him exactly where, because Kei didn't even know, but he couldn’t lie either, “I... don’t know inspector Chiba.” Kei admitted in all honesty. “Well then….” Inspector Chiba began, “If I’m not mistaken, I think we have just been duped.” he said, very unamused. “This is just great,” Kei thought, “now she’s going to get in real trouble….” “Did you know about this Kei?” Nurse Satomi asked him, not very happy with the current situation. “No, I didn’t, honest. This is all her,” he said, “You’ve got to believe me.” he pleaded.

“Well,” Lt. Fujibayashi piped in, “I think what we need to do other than just stand here, is start looking around. And being that this is a large school, I think we’ll need some back-up” she explained to them, trying to make a point. Satomi thought for a moment, and then it hit her, she knew just who to call, “I know someone who would be perfect,” she said, “I think she will be a big help. I’ll go call her.” “While you do that, I’m going to go look outside for Kanon. Alone,” Kei informed them, then ran off. “And where does that leave us, Lieutenant?” Inspector Chiba asked, waiting for an answer. “We’ll go in the opposite direction, but let’s split up. We can radio each other if we find her.” “Affirmative” He replied with a salute, and they both began their search. --- After a few minutes to think, and take a breath, Kanon had finally decided on a place to hide…. “The Auditorium, It’s perfect!” Kanon thought, then ran off in that direction. As Kei ran down the many halls of the school, he kept thinking to himself: “Where would Kanon go?” He was confused and shocked at Kanon’s behavior. Why would she act like this? If he ever found her, he would get to the bottom of it. --- Back in the infirmary, Nurse Satomi was sending out messages to the students, and friends, who would be most likely to help, and she also decided to call someone special. After she dialed a number, she put the hone up to her ear, and listened to the ringback tone…. Then someone picked up the phone, and said, “Hello, this is Ono Haruka, who do I have the pleasure of speak to?” “It’s Nurse Satomi, I’m sorry to disturb you, but I am calling from the school. We have a bit of a predicament with one of the students. I need your mental expertise.” She said, then continued to explain the situation. “Alright. I’ll be there as quick as I can,” she replied, then hung up. She ran out to her car, got in, and quickly drove off to meet her friend at the school.

And finally, chapter four! Again, four pages worth of writing!
{MKNR Chapter 4!}

While everyone else was doing their own things, Inspector Chiba and Lieutenant Fujibayashi were each inspecting their own parts of the school. Chiba was searching near the school entrance, and Fujibayashi was searching the many classrooms when she heard a voice on her radio…. “Lieutenant?” Chiba said over the radio, “Have you found anything?” he asked. “Negative, nothing in the classrooms.” she replied, “Where are you?” she asked him. “Near the front entry. But still nothing,” He told her, “I’m going to find my way back to you, so just stay put.” He informed her, but only to hear a snide remark, “Is that an order, Inspector?” she said, reminding him of his lower rank, “No, Lieutenant, of course not,” he said then quickly hung up.

Kei was now outside in the inner courtyard, looking around frantically. “Kanon, where are you?!” He called out, hoping she would hear him. “Kanon!” He called once more, but much to his despair, no answer…. Kei then stopped to think and catch his breath. “Where is she...?” he whispered to himself. He was very worried about her, so this made thinking harder. --- Ono Haruka finally made it to the school, parked the car, and as she was heading walking towards the main building, she stopped in her tracks just as she neared the auditorium…. She had just seen someone, who was definitely a student, run into the auditorium doors. And it almost looked like she was clutching something, so she sent a private message back to Nurse Satomi, explaining what she had just witnessed, and the message said: “Satomi, I am right in front of the auditorium building, I just saw a female student run through the doors, and she appeared to be clutching something. Meet me here, and I am going to try and confront her.” After the message was sent, she put the phone in her pocket, and proceeded into the auditorium.

Nurse Satomi had just received the message from Haruka, and after she read it, she decided to call Kei, being her fiance, she thought he might want to know. So she pulled out her phone and called him. --- Just as Kei had finished catching his breath, he heard his phone buzz, and it said the caller was Nurse Satomi, so he quickly picked it up: “Hello.” He said, “What’s up Nurse Satomi?” he asked, trying not to sound so panicked. “Kei, I just got word that Kanon was seen heading into the Auditorium,” she informed him. Kei couldn’t believe what he was hearing, someone spotted her… but he was worried about who. “That’s great, I’ll head there now.” He replied, “but, who exactly found her?” he asked. “I called Ono Haruka, the school counselor.” “Since she is a licensed doctor who specializes in mental health. I thought she would be perfect for this little dilemma,” she told him. “Phew,” he said under his breath, “Thank you.” He put his phone away and ran as quickly as he could, in the direction of the auditorium.

The Inspector eventually found his way back to the Lieutenant, “There you are,” the lieutenant said, greeting him, “Now if you try to give me an order one more time, Inspector….” She said, using an empty threat, “I’m sorry about that,” he apologized, ``I shouldn’t happen again.” He assured her, “I’d certainly hope not.” she said bluntly, “Now let’s go look outside. Obviously, there is no sign of her between here and the infirmary.” she commanded, then they both walked off, on their way outside.

Ono Haruka walked through the front doors, and further into the auditorium. She checked the restrooms, nothing, she checked the janitor’s closet, definitely nothing, then she found herself in front of the entrance to the room where the stage was. She walked down past the rows of seats, in which students would sit, and thankfully, the quietness of the room aided in revealing the sound of footsteps. The footsteps sounded like they were coming from behind the stage’s curtain, so she walked up on the stage, but trying to remain as quiet as possible.

Kanon was scrambling to hide in a supply room, behind the curtain, when she herself heard footsteps. Now not knowing who this was, she remained quiet, but she had her own little problem, the baby had just begun to start fussing…. “Shh, it’s okay,” she whispered gently, trying to calm the baby, “Everything will be alright, mommy has you.” And just her soothing words quieted him down. But while the baby’s fussing was solved quickly, she had something more to worry about. The mysterious footsteps sounded closer, then she heard a voice, that of a woman….

Kanon, the voice of Ono Haruka, called out, “are you in here?”
Kanon was able to tell that this wasn’t Nurse Satomi, and it didn't seem to fit the Lieutenant, so who could it have been? “Please, come out here. I won’t take the baby from you,” she said, trying to ease Kanon out of hiding. “How do I know this isn’t a trick?” Kanon thought while rubbing in-between the baby’s eyes, which made them droopy, “But then again, I don't know who this is. Maybe I’ll just take a peek.” So Kanon, as hard as it was, made the decision to simply peek at who this person was. “I’m going to leave you here sweety,” she whispered again to the baby, “I promise I will be right back,” she told him and kissed him on the forehead, then she opened the door ever so slightly, and slipped out, but did not stray far at all from the closet door.

“Who’s there?” she called out, but in a quiet tone, “Tell me your name, please.” Ono Haruka heard Kanons call, and replied back promptly, “I’m Ono Haruka, the school counselor.” Kanon knew who this was, but she still needed to make sure of a couple more things. “Are you alone?” she called out again. “Yes, I promise. It’s just me”, Haruka answered again. --- Kanon didn’t want to hide in a closet forever, and neither did the baby, so she went right back to the closet, and grabbed the baby. Then she called out once more, “Do you promise not to take my baby?” she asked and waited for a response. Now Haruka could tell that Kanon was absolutely in a state of delusion, so she had to take this lightly, “I promise Kanon, I won’t take it.” she reassured her. But just as Kanon was about to step out from behind the curtain, someone ran into the stage room…. It was Kei, and upon entering the room, he saw Ono Haruka standing on the stage, so he ran down to the stage, where everyone else was. Haruka heard and spotted Kei and motioned for him to stop. Seeing this, Kei stopped and didn’t move.

“Kanon, you can come out,” she called again, at the same time, letting Kei know she was in here. Kanon finally stepped out from behind the curtain, clutching the baby in her arms. Haruka could see the fear in her eyes and felt sorry for her. Kanon saw the school counselor, and then, behind her, about three-fourths of the way down the row of seats, she spotted Kei. Now that Kanon was out from behind the curtain, Kei continued down to the stage and stepped upon it.
Kei slowly walked towards Kanon, and said, “Kanon, are you okay?” Kanon didn’t feel like she had much to say, even to her own fiance, but she had to say something. “I don't know Kei,” she simply admitted, tears filling her eyes. “Oh Kanon, don’t cry,” He told her, and placed his hand on her cheek. Feeling his hand on her cheek, she relaxed, “I’m so sorry…” she said to him and looked deep into his eyes, still on the verge of tears. “It’s okay. There’s nothing to worry about, I’m here.” He reassured her. “Is the baby okay?” He asked her, looking down at him, and the baby looked back up at Kei. “He’s fine,” she said, then Kei asked, “Did you really have to change him?” This question made everyone smile, “Yes, I did.” she told him. “Now, Kanon, why don't you sit down for a minute?” Haruka suggested, “Okay,” Kanon agreed, and sat down in one of the auditorium seats.

Nurse Satomi was almost at the Auditorium, when the Lieutenant, and inspector showed behind her. “And just where do you think you’re going?” Inspector Chiba said, in a rather menacing tone. Nurse Satomi froze, and sighed, “The auditorium,” she admitted, not wanting to cause any trouble. “And why the auditorium?” The lieutenant asked her, “Kanon is there, with the baby.” she admitted again. “Alright, thank you,” The lieutenant told her and the two of them walked into the Auditorium. “I hope everyone’s okay,” Satomi thought, then followed the two officers into the auditorium. Once the three of them, Satomi and the two officers, were standing in front of the stage room, like many before them, Satomi had a question: “Officers,” she began, “You aren't going to go in and just grab the baby, will you?” she asked. “Of course not,” Lt. Fujiayashi said, “that would be rude. But we won’t let her run again,” she stated, then she and the inspector strode into the room, and down the aisle of seats. “I hope they don't go too hard on her, the poor girl.” she thought to herself, then entered the room as well.

As Kei sat next to Kanon, he repeatedly kept trying to soothe her, and it did work until a couple of officers came into the equation --- “Chiyoda-san!” Inspector Chiba called, as he walked down the aisle, along with the lieutenant and nurse Satomi. This drove fear into Kanon again and made her jump. Seeing Kanon’s reaction, Kei quickly grabbed her shoulder and firmly told her, in a caring way, “No Kanon. Don’t run away again.” Kanon knew Kei was trying to help, but this whole situation has had Kanon near her breaking point. As the officers came down to the front row of seats, where Kanon, Kei, the baby, and Haruka Ono were, Kanon could feel her heart beginning to race again, and even the baby could sense she was uncomfortable, so he began to start fussing again. “It’s okay, Mama’s not going to let you go,” she whispered, again, comforting him.

“Chiyoda-san, I think it is time to end this charade, don’t you think?” Inspector Chiba demanded, looking down at her. “Now you just wait a minute Inspector,” Haruka butted in, motioning towards Kanon. “Can’t you see all the stress she’s in?” Lt. Fujibayashi cleared her throat, “Stressed or not, this is a serious situation.” “With all due respect, I can see that, Lieutenant. I’m only a licensed doctor in mental health,” she argued. “Well then, why don’t we get this done and over with quickly, to limit stress?” she suggested. “And how do you plan to do that?” Nurse Satomi chimed in. “We’ll talk with her, and then we’ll take custody of the baby. Simple.” “At least let Haruka and I talk to her first,” Nurse Satomi commented. “Very well then,” the Lieutenant agreed. --- Kanon didn’t like what she heard, but what could she do? She was already in enough trouble as it was. She looked at Kei, with a broken look in her eyes, and asked him: “Kei, are they really going to take him away from me?” What Kanon had just asked him, he could not answer, he knew the truth, now it was just a matter of time before they did it. “Kanon…” he began, with a look of uncertainty, “I can’t promise anything. It’s out of our hands now, I’m sorry.” She knew her fiance was right, but she just didn’t want to believe it. Just then, Haruka Ono and Nurse Satmomi walked over to Kanon, and Kei, cautiously removed his hand from Kanon’s shoulder, just hoping she wouldn't bolt again. “Kanon,” Haruka started, “why are you acting like this? If you could tell us, we might be able to make this easier,” she added.
When Kanon was asked this question, she looked at Kei, Haruka, and Satomi, and they all had a pleading look in their eyes. --- Kanon sighed, the reason why she has acted like this was only something she knew, not even her own Fiance knew, but she had no choice, she had to tell them.

“Kanon, tell us, please,” Kei said softly. Kanon looked down at the baby, and with tears in her eyes, confessed…. “A couple weeks before we found the baby,” she began to explain, but wasn’t quite sure how to word it, “I, uh, had my yearly health check, and everything was fine, at first….” she paused for a moment, “Go ahead Kanon,” Kei told her. The one person she was most worried about was what Kei would think when he heard what she had to say, “Then, I got a letter in the mail from the doctor, and, it said that I….” she paused again. “You what?” Nurse Satomi asked. “I can’t have my own children,” she wept. Everyone was stunned, especially Kei, who gasped. “Oh, no. Kanon, why didn’t you tell me?” he wondered, “Kei, it broke my heart,” she sniffled, “so I didn’t want to break your’s too.”
