I won't eat them but my Oscars used to, they loved them......

Do not just kill things by putting it in the freezer. Not even fish. That's as bad of death as flushing. They don't just go to sleep. They suffer from the change in water temperature and it's a very slow way to die. The clove oil will sedate and numb them so they can be killed in other ways or enough clove oil could kill. Although clove oil is still somewhat debated on fish forums but considered the most humane for those that can't use more "violent" methods. Otherwise same as culling chicks and other animals... Removal of the head or breaking the neck, possibly with a good whack first so they are unconscious, is always the fastest most humane way to kill anything. A bullet to the brain or cutting the head off is arguably more humane than even chemical euthanasia if they aren't thoroughly sedated first.

Oh this reminds me of the time I tried to "humanely" kill a sick fish that belonged to my then boyfriend. I was home alone that weekend for some reason, the fish was freaking me out the way it was all sick in the tank, he told me to freeze it so that is what I tried.

Unfortunately, I couldn't stop opening the freezer and horrifying myself each time looking at that huge fish swimming slower and slower and slower. (Train wreck factor, I suppose.)

Now, I eat plenty of animals, and have no problems killing a fish I am going to eat, but that freezer method was just freaky for some reason. The clove oil trick is interesting though.

Hi,
I have six different birds in a dog crate. I think they're chickens but some of them might be turkeys. There's a white one and a red one and two blacks ones and a yellowy one and a spotted one. They are FREE but if you don't come get them by tonight I'm just going to put them out on the road and let them get run over!

It's just a chicken, right?

Let's just take it one step further. Can you imagine the shrieks of terror from the blades of grass on your lawn as you pass over them with your mower? They are living things, aren't they? What makes one "life form" more "noble" than the other? Just be thankful that you're on top of the food chain. Some things have to die for other things to live. It's the rules, plain and simple. Over-analyze anything long enough and brocolli could end up taking over the world.

Well, we do live in a disposable society. I went to the local animal shelter yesterday, and was talking with the manager. A few weeks ago, a woman brought in 2 dogs because she was getting new carpeting... and the dogs didn't match the color carpeting she was getting - "the dogs clash with the carpet color". The manager asked if the woman was worried the dogs would soil the new carpeting, and the woman said no - the dogs were housetrained. The dogs were so distraught when their owner left them there, that they refused to eat. But hey, they're "just" dogs, right?

And the fish were good enough to be pets when she got them, right? Now they just don't fit in???

I understand eating fish, I mean I was created and have the teeth to eat meat in my mouth... It's the food chain, you know, the way life works. But to just FLUSH fish down the toilet is horrible and inhumane, and thoughtless. What a horrible post on Craigslist. What about morals?

Pretty much this. If your response to animal cruelty is "Well, it's just a ______", you might want to reconsider having pets.
