Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Buy eggs from Pips and Peeps. Worth every darn penny. I took some eggs last year that she gave me, hatched some cute chicks. The 4-h kids never game and got them, so I sold them. Oh, her white LF are gorgeous. I know the blue wheaten are the craze, but of all her birds I would choose Buff first followed by White... neither one are usually my favorite colors in other breeds, but hers just rock. Her whites are HUGE and lay a BIG blue egg (some I hatched from last year were at least a third bigger than the others), and her buffs are such a deep golden that it has set my standard for the 'perfect' buff color.

Sorry,.. I just really like her whites. If I ever decide I can't live without blue eggs in my basket I know who I'll be bothering.

So nice Kirstie,
What a variety of egg color you have going.

Someone showed me a beautiful handful of different colored eggs they had just collected and it was all over! I was hooked!

Jeremy,
I have both lights & darks too. I just got my first egg the day before yesterday. I don't know who from since they are all together in one pen. Whoever it was was a good girl & layed it in the nest box where it belongs....LOL. It is not as dark as my BCMs but it's a good 4. I like big fluffy birds so I am leaning towards the lights because they seem fluffier. I know that is probably not even a factor. I just like it......LOL

I'm sure there is a chart some where in this 650 page thread lol, but can someone email me a chart with feather genetics

I'm trying to figure out

If I have blue wheaten rooster and hens what happens if I put blues in with them?
Do I have to only put wheatens and blue wheatens in with them to get standard colors?

The only colors you can breed together are blacks & blues and then the wheatens & blue wheatens. Do not mix your other varieties together and do not mix the wheaten varieties with the black/blue.
