I am hoping someone may have come across a dead dog. It doesn't seem totally illogical to me, as it's how I first experimented with tanning, only in my case it was a dead cat I found. I didn't want my first try to be on something I'd actually want the fur off of, and good thing too because I thoroughly botched that attempt up.
I have a friend who looks for roadkill to skin for art projects, and her collection consists of several dogs and cats. She even has plans to skin her own cat before cremating the rest of him when the time comes for him to be put to sleep. Hoping one of these non sinister motives would be behind this . . . otherwise, very disturbing.
