I don't post very often, but when I do, its usually for multiple birds in one BST post. I know people keep saying that GFM is no big deal to buy, its cheap, etc., etc., but I'm a college student and money is quite tight. So now when I have birds to sell on here I can only sell three? In order to sell just ten, I have to pay $20 for no garuantee that they will actually sell? That doesn't make much sense when I can go to my local auction and sell the birds for less than here online. Not to mention, if I try to sell birds at the auction and they don't sell, I'm not out any money.

In the past I've used BYC to make a little extra spending money and I was just talking with my room mate today about possibly selling some of my photos here. But I would sell them and probably make just enough to pay for the GFM. That just doesn't make sense to me!

Sorry, I really don't mean to offend, but BYC seems to be getting more and more commercial and its beginning to turn me off just a little bit. I feel like the new things added to the site are not just for members, but rather to bring in increased money for the site. That's not always a bad thing because I know it takes quite a bit of money to run a website of this caliber, but it sure makes things difficult for those on a tight budget...especially if everything you do on a loved website now costs money.

Ok, I have read the whole thing and here is my question. If we make an auction for one set of eggs and we have 3 other different sets can we mention those in the post and tell people to PM for the 3 other sets but bid on the first set? I'm not sure I have made that clear.

Auction is for 6 Polish eggs.

In my post I tell about the Polish eggs and mention that I also have 6 houdan, 6 pynchoen, and 6 EE eggs as well if anyone wants to PM me. Would this be allowed?

Your points have been taken into consideration like all the others, but comments like this are absolutely unfounded, unfair, and totally untrue. The extremely vast majority of everything on BYC and the forum is free. There are very few privileges we've removed or charged for over the years... in fact I think this is the very first thing we've pulled back on, while everything else (PM storage, Image storage, etc.) has increased steadily over the years.

We understand change is hard, but we're much less likely to validate feedback if it is wrapped with half and un-truths.

I'm honestly not going to argue because basically all I do is post and even that I do less and less as the years go on because i just don't have the time. I don't have a BYC page, nor do I use the site to host images. I rarely even PM. I actually don't know how much space we get to do any of these things. I use facebook because I can host unlimited pictures and it doesn't cost me anything. It is also easy to access. Not that BYC isn't, but it's easier for me anyways.

My statement isn't completely unfounded. As I mentioned before, I'm a college student on an extremely tight budget. When something costs money, I usually focus on that. You also have to remember that I've been a member of BYC since the beginning (or at least very near to the beginning. I was not a member of the very, very first site) While things have definitely improved over the years, I've also seen a lot more features cost money, when in the past they did not. Like I said, I understand it costs money to run a website such as this. I can accept change, but the more things cost, the less i can tolerate it because I simply can't afford it at this stage in my life.

Luckily I do have other outlets to sell things at, so its not a huge deal for me. Just figured I'd throw in my 2 cents anyways, as I usually end up doing. Since the auction is only in its first stage, there is plenty of time for changes. Hopefully it works out well for people in the end.

Edited for spelling errors.

What I think would be good is that the GFMs get the 10 free auctions, and normal members like me get the 3, and then anthing after that you charge something like 10% of the sale price. Just my 2 cents.

I have a suggestion. Why not allow dutch auctions. For example you could have just one auction. For example, you sell maran eggs by the 6 pack and you have 20 ~ 6 packs to sell. You could write one buy it now and have a quantity of 20 on it. Each time one sold the quantity would tick down until all were sold or the ad expired. I just did a test auction, and noticed this option was not available so I thought I would come here and drop my 2 cents worth. Hope you think it is a good idea.
