The recipe said you could use veggie juice (like carrots or beets). I think that's a great idea!

I made this bread yesterday and it is very yummy. It is a bit sweet but still makes a nice chicken salad sandwich! I also had some for breakfast.

Whole Wheat cinnamon honey bread
2 cups boiling water
1 cup rolled oats, traditional or quick (not instant)
1/2 cup Dark brown sugar
1 tablespoon honey
1/4 cup (4 tablespoons) butter
1 tablespoon kosher salt or 2 1/2 teaspoons table salt
2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon instant yeast
1 1/2 cups Whole Wheat Flour
4 cups Unbleached All-Purpose Flour

Instructions
1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the water, oats, brown sugar, honey, butter, salt, and cinnamon. Let cool to lukewarm, about 10 to 15 minutes.
2. Add the yeast and flours, stirring to form a rough dough. Knead (about 10 minutes by hand, 5 to 7 minutes by machine) until the dough is smooth and satiny.
3. Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl, cover the bowl with lightly greased plastic wrap, and allow the dough to rise for 1 hour. Since the dough is warm to begin with (from the boiling water), it should become quite puffy.
4. Divide the dough in half, and shape each half into a loaf. Place the loaves in two greased 8 1/2" x 4 1/2" bread pans.
5. Cover the pans with lightly greased plastic wrap and allow the loaves to rise until they've crowned about 1" over the rim of the pan, about 60 to 90 minutes.
6. Bake the loaves in a preheated 350°F oven for 35 to 40 minutes, tenting them lightly with aluminum foil after 25 minutes, to prevent over-browning. Remove them from the oven when they're golden brown, and the interior registers 190°F on a digital thermometer.
7. Turn the loaves out onto a rack to cool. Store at room temperature, well-wrapped, for several days; freeze for longer storage.
Yield: 2 sandwich loaves.

Anybody got an easy dairy free desert? Have a family gathering tomorrow and I can't think what to take for my daughter. We are trailing dairy free rather than her normal lactose free so suddenly I loose all those lactose free creams etc I normally use.

As long as it doesn't need whipping I can normally get away with coconut cream instead of cream
I can use almond milk instead of milk
I have a dairy free butter replacement.

All my regular deserts have whipped cream though arghh. All I can think of is apple pie but that's not real exciting compared to the other deserts that will be there.

I'm wondering about a coconut cream pie but not sure what to put on the top....

Of course you get to see pictures! These are pictures from a hatchery site to give you an idea of the breeds I'm getting. 8 breeds, a total of 10 ducks. I was able to request females on all but the Welsh Harlequin (they don't sex those so I'm guessing it will be a male). See anyone in particular you'd like to be a GM to?

Blue Indian Runner x 2

Blue Swedish

Buff

Cayuga

Khaki Campbell x 2

Pekin

Welsh Harlequin

White Layer Hybrid

They are all so cute. Hard decision, but given a choice would pick a Buff - or leave it up to you after they arrive. Maybe which duckling gives you the most trouble

What about cherries and coconut topping?
