Any Trappers Out There?

Do you guys tan the hides? I have been doing this for a little while, and I have realized that deer are 50 times easier than coons. How do you guys get all of the grease off?

With my coon hides i skin and flesh them then i wash them repeatedly wash it in a mix of water and laundry detergent. But its important after washing in the mix, to rinse the hide in just water to make sure you get all the detergent out. I usually have to do that several times before i tan. Then i use a tanning solution on the hide.

I used to trap a little a long time ago but my 11 year old son is ate up with trapping. That is what he wants for Christmas. More traps.
