I love gardening.. everything seems to die on me later in the season but I still love it!

Gardening. Yeah I love it. Do any of you guys use pine needles for mulch. In the past, I have always used straw. This year, since I live in southern ark., I was thinking of using pine needles. What do y'all think?

Oh no!! I definitely should NOT have opened this thread!

I am a rabid gardener and am very close to being able to harvest year around now ..hopefully this year

last year I was able to provide enough produce so we did not have to buy anything from spring to late fall!

I am so proud of my gardens and do have a flicker site I can post later if anyone is interested

I do mostly raised beds and square foot style we just added six more this year

I have tons of herbs..several dwarf 5 way fruit trees (they are still young so they are not producing like crazy yet except the five way Asian pear we get lots of those), blackberries, currents, gooseberries. I have a heavy producing fig tree and a baby fig tree that I rescued from near death ..a quince (no fruit yet) a persimmon (it looks like a dead stick I am about to loose hope for it) grapes that make nice leaves for cooking but not so much as one grape in five years

anyway yes I love to garden and have been out there since the end of January when I cleaned my beds and put some peas in (I figured it was worth a shot and we have had a few hard frosts since but there are pea shoots sticking up)

glad I found this thread

Oh Henry. I took a peep at your website. The flower on you home page is sooo beautiful. I bought that variety a few years ago. It has to be my most favorite flower. When I sold my house I forgot to move it with me.
