Anyone ever had your arm numbed for surgery???

Thanks about the water, I really don't drink much water, but I'll try. It is starting to hurt alittle now. should of told my daughter when she picked up my meds. to NOT get the child proof bottle !!!

Wow, good luck - take your pain meds regularly! I have had both of my arms numbed for torn rotator cuffs and both for carpal tunnel. Not bad at all until the numbing stuff wore off. Lots of ice packs, elevation and pain meds got me through them! I just had to learn I can't pitch bales of hay like I did when I was younger! Hang in there!!!

LOL about the child proof bottle - see if its the kind you can turn upside down and it makes a regular cap. I never realized they made 'em like that...

I never heard that, about the lids but it didn't work with mine.

i had to hold it with my teeth to get the lid off !! LOL

My son showed me that trick about a year ago; I thought it was brilliant! If you have any other perscription bottles the same size, you might have one like that and could switch. If not, put some in a little plastic bag and label it (yes, label it) so you don't have to keep using your teeth...ouch....

Oh yuck again!
WHY did they cut it off?? Did you lose the whole finger or just part??

The tip of the index finger was ripped off by reins (long story, horse riding accident, 1 in a million). Never did find the piece, I think the chickens ate it

The post amputation didn't hurt much but the needles for freezing my hand almost sent me through the roof.
I asked the doctor not to drop my finger tip on the surgery tray, didn't want to hear the clink of my bone on metal.

I said to myself I wouldn't look at the tray, but I did, and saw my finger tip bone sitting on the tray, bones are a creamy white. Weird feeling.

I should have asked for it

made a necklace out of it (just kidding)
The tendons are severed at the tip so my finger doesn't bend too much and it gets super cold in winter, no circulation.

I see people looking at the missing tip and their face is saying I wonder what happened to her finger?
If they do ask, I say I lost it in a Bar fight

Then I get a really weird look.

I was going to reply earlier but got sidetracked. I've had three wrist surgeries rebuilding my right wrist. The first one they did the typical anesthesia and numbing and it took forever for it to wake up, I had a useless club hanging off my shoulder. The other two surgeries I had with a Bier Block where they put a tourniquet on your arm, squeeze the blood out and don't put you under or use a ton of drugs to numb you. I found that when they released the pressure and the blood went back into my arm it stung, but didn't hurt near as much as it woke up and it woke up completely in less than half an hour with no residual side effects. The third surgery like that took hours to implant cadaver tendons and rebuild the missing sheaths off of the tendons and such and finally get a usable joint going. I sure hope things go well for you and that you recover well. Part of the issue with me is my drug allergies, I can't take a lot of pain killers and such and with the Bier block I didn't need any.
